It's 7 days to Mafia Awards; if you wanted to join the War Room and vote in the Awards, you're too late. That's a shame; you're missing out.

The War Room is really a great place. The strategy is not too difficult; the time is not too involved; the commitment is not too great; the people are not <s>too</s> bad (no, really).

I joined TWR, like most everybody else, in Mijzelffan's BMGF Mafia II. That was the pinnacle of War Room. From there, things kept growing. We're fast approaching on our 100 games mark. That's pretty great.

What always makes the games, though, are the individual moments of strategy and triumph. My favorite moments have always been the decision points where something goes 'right' and you have to move on. Lynching a mafia member or squeezing an innocent lynch through when you didn't have the votes just earlier; getting a guilty check on someone you long suspected. I'll share a few such moments:

Hurristat's BMGF III had a lot of these moments. One of the greatest was when me and Hellion and Rayne all began talking and sharing information. It became clear one day that one of them was mafia. Unsure of which one was mafia, I PM'ed both, telling each that I believed him and was willing to vote for the other. Then, when Hellion misstepped, I made sure he was lynched.

Mintaka's War Room Mafia, where me and Ryuutakeshi staged an elaborate fight. It was all a trick to get the mafia to kill Ryuu at night. By his role, he could kill one of them in turn. I was able to kill all the mafia and live all the way through that game.

Hellion's Second X-Men Mafia had lots of these moments. The best, by far, was when I figured out that Iteru, who we (the mafia) thought was mafia, was actually a traitor. He had killed me on Day 1, without us even realizing. So when Iteru was asleep, we staged a vote against him that eliminated him. It worked perfectly.

Play for yourself and make your own moments. It's not too late to get ready for Next Year's Awards.

Called Rabbit Doubt, and based on a manga of the same name, it is a game to weed out the wolves in a large group of people. Public votes are had to eliminate suspicious-looking players, the goals of each side being to eliminate the other team. It may sound like mafia, but it's a lot simpler.

Yesterday, finding inspiration, I found my ancient copy of Pokemon Gold -- unused for 6 years (!!!) -- lodged inside a N64 Transfer Pack (wow, nostalgia).

When I booted it up, I was prompted with a notice that the clock may be incorrect (it was two days, 6 hours off), and I was able to reset it. I tired the file, and I started right where I left off -- with 20 minutes of gameplay, and level a 8 Totodile.

Leaving it inactive for 10 minutes produced added 10 minutes to the clock while the game was still on (based on the gameplay clock when you save). Saving and quitting showed me that these 10 minutes had carried over. Looking at it now, it's still synched to the actual time of the world.

So my data has been saved, while my clock did not, even though it appears to function fine.

So: should I assume that everything's fine and that regular time functions will work? Is this permanent, or has the mythical dead clock not hit me yet? In that case, would all of my save file be deleted, or would it be deleted? Should this happen, would I need to keep the game on at all times to prevent save deletion? Would this still trigger the in-game clock to function? And what is the risk of any of this being necessary?

Apparently, to protect Pokemon games from those awful hackers who would abuse Pal Park, Nintendo instal, led the 24-hour time limit. That brilliance, not being enough for the protect-customers-from-themselves mentality of Nintendo, led them to also say "That's not protective enough, we must now protect players from ever changing their clocks ever.". Now I have the priveledge of waiting 24 hours for the limit to expire. Class-A job, now my pokemon clocks will never be 5 minutes apart again.
4:00pm Max
So you want to make money by charging for unaffordable healthcare

Healthcare should not be a business

Like the rest of the civilised world it is a public service

cept in one backwards country

who are serously close to losing their status as a super power

Nick
You don't even know what I believe, yet you've assumed that I "want to make money by charging" for healthcare

4:01pm Max
It should be free like it is in the rest of the west

4:02pm Nick
It's not 'free'. It's just paid for at a different step in the process, and some people pay more than others.

4:02pm Max
Yes the rich should pay more

if they can afford more

4:02pm Nick
That's changing the topic. I said that it's not 'free'.

If you want to talk about rich paying more, simply say so instead of changing the topic.

4:03pm Max
no you said some pay more than others

you lead into the topic change

There are 30 million in need of help

I didnt support Obama

but he is trying to help them

and so called businessman are getting in the way

4:04pm Nick
You said that it's 'free'.

4:04pm Max
the time for partisanship will come

its free at the time

as you dont actually pay

its indirect

as its from tax

4:04pm Nick
I said that it's not - it isn't after all. It's just paid for at a different stage so it appears free

4:05pm Max
Yes, the poor people should get it free

4:05pm Nick
It's not free, someone is still paying.

4:05pm Max
Free for them

4:05pm Nick
Now you're more specific.

Now we can get somewhere.

That, unfortunately, incents poor people to remain poor.

4:06pm Max
Nick

dont go there

you are well off

You cant make comment like that

4:06pm Nick
After welfare reform in 1994, when Clinton cut welfare benefits, poverty rates declined.

4:06pm Max
we need to help those in society

You know what you said earlier about cliches

4:06pm Nick
Socialist countries in Scandanavia have lower income per capita than countries like the US.

4:07pm Max
why does america earn these cliches

4:07pm Nick
"We need to help those in society"

That's a belief max.

I have a different belief.

4:07pm Max
because their is truth behind them

you dont believe in helping people

if thats true

than you are truly scum

I pray

that if there is a god

he will be listening to this

4:07pm Nick
If you want to argue over beliefs, than we might as well argue about Chriastianity and Judiasm.

If you want to argue over beliefs, than we might as well argue about Chriastianity and Judiasm.

And I can have an opinion on anything, being rich does not mean that I can't have an opinion on anything affecting financial matters. That's just a technique to shut out debate.

4:08pm Max
and he will put you in poverty

then we will see if you like universal healthcare or not

4:08pm Nick
I believe in helping people. Not through government.

4:08pm Max
you are selfish

4:08pm Nick
I donate privately.

4:08pm Max
theres no getting thorugh to you

you are evil

OH BIG WOOP

4:09pm Nick
Is this really Max?

4:09pm Max
you give them your leftovers

Im shocked Nick

Yes it is

4:09pm Nick
Charity is a voluntary choice. Government intervention isn't.

4:09pm Max
This is Max absolutely shocked and appauled

Both should happen

4:09pm Nick
That I give out of my own heart instead of simply saying "Oh, take from the richer, that's my donation"

4:10pm Max
But you give them your leftovers

You buy your fancy stuff then if there is anything left over give it away

4:10pm Nick
That's a stereotype.

You're making assumptions you have no basis for.

4:10pm Max
My family gives to charity

4:10pm Nick
In fact, that's Marxist philosophy.

4:11pm Max
but we support Governmend aid as well

4:11pm Nick
BTW, America is one of the world's most charitable nations.

4:11pm Max
Cos your the richest

4:11pm Nick
European nations, with all of their government programs, have less charity.

4:11pm Max
so you have the most leftover

4:11pm Nick
In terms of rates, not just in terms of amount.

4:11pm Max
You are richer

for now

4:11pm Nick
And how did we get richer then?

4:12pm Max
the fact you are 50 countries combined into one

4:12pm Nick
That makes no sense.

4:12pm Max
Yes it does

It's basic economics

The bigger countries

are able to earn more

Like China for example

4:12pm Nick
We were 50 nations back in the Great Depression... we still suffered worse than many nations.

4:12pm Max
Countries with small populations are not rich

4:13pm Nick
We were 50 nations in the past year... Didn't stop us from suffering badly.

4:13pm Max
Because of your large numbers

you recover quickly

4:13pm Nick
BTW, Switzerland has huge production rates.

they have a small population...

And by that logic, Russia should have been economically superior in WWI, since they had so many people.

They weren't.

Historical precedence refutes your jabs.

4:14pm Max
No Russia is Poweful

you make assuming statements

i didnt say that if you have more people you are automatically richer

discarding your remark about richer

but you are seriously advantaged

Nick
Russia was economically weak before WWI.

4:14pm Max
If each individual state were on its own

4:14pm Nick
they didn't experience the full Industrial Revolution.

4:14pm Max
they would not be as powerful

4:15pm Nick
Yet, they had a HUGE population at the time.

4:15pm Max
as you are all interdependant on eachother

you need to go read a basic economics textbook instead of trying to simplify everything to your narrow minded terms

Why do you think Europe is intergrating into the Eu

BECAUSE IT IS BETTER ECONOMICALLY TO BE COMBINED AS ONE

America benefited from this for almost 100 years

4:16pm Nick
Better for trade, yes. That doesn't automatically mean that "UNIFIED COUNTRIES = WEALTH"

4:16pm Max
Well trade is a big economic factor fool

and no its not automatic

thus disproving your point about russia

4:17pm Nick
It's good for producing trade treaties and the like. It doesn't automatically equate to wealth.

4:17pm Max
well done your getting their

slowly

4:17pm Nick
Max, that had nothing to do with Russia.

AT

ALL

4:17pm Max
Your comment about russia being big

didnt make it economically powerful

its a fact that being big is better

4:18pm Nick
I was talking about population.

4:18pm Max
but you assumed it would be automatcis

So am I

4:18pm Nick
Show me where i said that.

4:19pm Max
they didn't experience the full Industrial Revolution.

Yet, they had a HUGE population at the time.

you said that

4:19pm Nick
and? That goes with what I said: "Big Population doesn't automatically equate to economic success"

Let me clarify:

Yes, more people means a bigger economy.

That's the total number.

4:20pm Max
Not automatically

4:20pm Nick
More people doesn't mean a more efficient economy, or a more productive economy.

4:20pm Max
but a bigger population

is a hufe advantage

each state has enough people to be its own country

al working together

you have a big economic advantage

that doesnt make you rich automatically

but when you use that advantage effectively

you excel

Look at China

the huge growth they are experiencing

becuase they have over a quareter of the worlds population

At the end of the day

how stupid must you be

4:22pm Nick
China has been economically repressed.

4:22pm Max
to see the whole world acomplish something

4:22pm Nick
Now they're catching up.

4:22pm Max
then not try and do it yourself

Obamas plan will cut the deficit

but you dont want that

4:22pm Nick
That's through accounting gimmicks.

4:22pm Max
Provide 30 million with healthcare

you dont want that

4:22pm Nick
Obama has spent more than any other president.

I have an alternative plan.

4:23pm Max
EVEN INDEPENDANTS SAY THAT IT WILL CUT THE DEFICIT

4:23pm Nick
Which ones?

4:23pm Max
IMF

4:23pm Nick
And Independents are not the measure of political accuracy.

4:23pm Max
Um what else is there

You just believe the Republicans

Guess what, gay marriage will increase the deficit

4:24pm Nick
"My dad is independent and thinks that Obama will increase the deficit. Therefore, you are wrong"

4:24pm Max
Oh looks like your against your own marriage now

OMG NICK

YOU REALLY ARE STUPID

4:24pm Nick
As a gay man, I obviouuuuuuusly find it abhorrent.

4:24pm Max
YOUR DAD IS A BUSINESSMAN

4:24pm Nick
Therefore, he isn't entitled to make a decision.

4:25pm Max
YOU MAY CLAIM INDEPENDANCE

4:25pm Nick
Let that decision be made by me, the non-businessman, so I can control his finances.

4:25pm Max
BUT THATS JUST BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW YOUR SPOTUNG THE SAME REPUBLICAN TRASH

AND WE DONT LISTEN TO YOUR TRASH

SO YOU TRY AND CLAIM TO BE INDEPENDANT

4:26pm Nick
Oh my, you're really dedicated to this Marxist stuff.

4:26pm Max
Nick, just spouting rubbish now

Im not Marxist

helping people isnt soley Marxist

you are paranoid about government

racist towards obama

hypocritcal

and a liar

4:27pm Nick
I have 4 requests:

1. Show me where I said that helping people is Marxist.

2. Show me where I said that I was paranoid of government.

4:27pm Max
you called me marxist for wanting to help people

4:27pm Nick
3. Show me where I was racist.

4:27pm Max
earlier conversations

4:27pm Nick
4. Show me where I lied.

4:27pm Max
you hate obama for no reason

4:28pm Nick
Show me, show me.

4:28pm Max
you lie about being independant

What drugs are you taking?

You want me to show you past conversations?

you openly admitted before that you didnt want government in charge as they mess things up

and inefeficent

now you are lying about that

so thast proves points 3 and 4

2 and 4 sorry

4:29pm Nick
I never said that I disliked the government in every capacity.

4:29pm Max
Oh its just the Democratic ones you hate

4:29pm Nick
Mis-hitting number keys there?

4:29pm Max
my mistake

Yes

I cant actually prove you are racist

4:30pm Nick
Did you not hear me say I disliked McCain?

4:30pm Max
but im 90% sure

4:30pm Nick
Or that I thought Palin was a bubblehead?

4:30pm Max
Yes you dont have to like everonye in your party

the fact is

4:30pm Nick
Oh, it's a fact.

4:30pm Max
you are the Republicans base

the well off busineman and family

living in a big consercative house

4:30pm Nick
That's right, demographics are the best place to look for cliches.

4:30pm Max
in a southern state

4:31pm Nick
*OHIO

4:31pm Max
(well ohio is sort of low)

Nick

4:31pm Nick
Of course.

4:31pm Max
you keep menitoning cliches

4:31pm Nick
Right at the boarder with Canda.

*canada

4:31pm Max
yet you are one big walking stereotype

Sometimes I think you are a made up character

you embody republicanism

yet claim independance

4:33pm Max
If the republican party was personified

In human form

It would be you

Apart from being gay

IF YOU WERE POOR

YOUD PRAY EACH NIGHT THAT OBAMA SUCCEEDED

but as you are well off

you are quite happy and content

to remain slefish

and give the poor your scraps and leftonvers

then claim it to be charity out of the goodness of your heart

Are you going to say anything?

4:35pm Nick
There are poor people who don't support Obama.

4:35pm Max
Too busy counting money???

They are stupid then

4:35pm Nick
"they don't agree with me... Therefore, they are stupid"

4:35pm Max
If you were straight

you'd be against gay rights

im sure of it

4:36pm Nick
"Don't they understand that they need money from rich people?"

Yes, Max as in "Max King", or "Ciaran".
