Thank God for Sailor Moon

One has to recognize Sailor Moon's massive impact on American anime fandom. Hers was the first show that managed to draw in a measurable audience of real, live girls, who became genuinely hardcore fans thanks to shows like Rurouni Kenshin and Revolutionary Girl Utena. Which led, by a long and twisted trail, to a number of fanboys unexpectedly finding a way to lose their virginities at conventions some years down the line. They may not quite know it, but they owe you one, Sailor Moon.

The above is true. I have met a total of two hardcore anime girls that live remotely near me (in the middle of nowhere, Indiana), and both of them said their first anime was Sailor Moon. One of the girls is a cosplayer, and the only person, female or not, who can keep up with me in full-on otaku mode. The other is my sister-by-proxy, one of the few people I can talk openly about anything with.

Sailor Moon, thank you (sidenote: despite what parts of this particular blog may imply, I'm still a virgin.)

The first thing I see when I get on for a while is a bandwagon. Why not?

Especially in a single argument. Both of my parents do nothing but talk in circles, getting themselves proved wrong multiple times on every part of the conversation, back up their side with nothing but 'because', and make blatantly idiodic and false statements and still think they win every argument they get into.

Case in point: I just argued for thirty minutes with my dad about the fact that it's physically impossible for me to get Life Scout rank before I leave for Taiwan. I pointed this out maybe ten seconds in and why. He spent the next thirty minutes yelling at me because I was right.

Apparently. I was in a chatroom with the other Exchange students to/from Taiwan, and one of the girls that went last year told the girls going this year that a bikini wasn't the best idea for swim class. She actually gave a guy a nosebleed O,o That's crazy.

I just slept Turpin a huge amount of stuff I was apparently supposed to go through his morning because I was up until three last night. One of those things was breakfast.

Anyway, this conference is awesome for gettin prepared to head out to Taiwan, or any country, really. There's a ton of stuff to do everywhere and a bunch of people to talk to. And nightly parties hosted by the club. Creauuu.

Anyway, I leave for Taiwan in like a month and a half. I can't wait, though I'll miss some things like here and the timesink... As little English as possible, so I won't be around here much, if at all.

My blogs once I leave will probably be more anecdotes, though I don't party often, as was implied in my last blog's title (which you should check out for the hilarious stories from yesterday that I cold remember) Creau (seriously, it's an awesome song to dance to, even if I have no idea what their saying.)

Pain and loopiness

So I had my wisdom teeth extracted Tuesday. I've looked like a chipmunk since, and been more or less extremely loopy from Vicodin or in pain the whole time.

My internet has also been down because Comcast is stupid and they throttle you if you use more tha 75% of your bandwith; we had an XBox party and were using over 1 meg/second. By the way, they're not suppose to be able to do that.

ALSO, I got a new laptop for my exchange. My brothers also put Dwarf Fortress on it. Between me being loopy, reading the first book in the Codex Alera series, and attempting to learn DF, I've had no free time at all T.T but in a fun way.

My best friend Kennedy currently has a little brother named Eli, who at seven years old, has brain cancer. I know from experience both how sweet he is, and how hard it is to have a realtive with cancer. Kennedy is a very strong girl, but i know this is a hard time for her. Below is a link to youtube that shows him singing "Baby" By Justin Bieber. It's a little hard to understand, but its really quite remarkably how far he's come. If you could sign your name below, promising to keep little Eli in your prayers, i would be so grateful. I plan on surprising her when we get 200 signatures. He's hanging on, and we can save him through the power of prayer

Fucking Parents

This is what pisses me off so much in my house.

Yesterday: My little brother is ignoring them, they yell at him.

Today: My little brother is breaking the same rule as yesterday, I tell him he needs to stop, he ignores me, I raise my voice, my parents yell at me. He insults me and suddenly when I start talking angrily I'm apparently 'threatening him' and I get in trouble.

Then I go downstairs to talk to my dad, and I explain myself, and he says something obviously wrong, and I correct him and get in trouble for interrupting. My mom comes down to yell at me, while I'm talking. I point out she's interrupting me and she loses her shit completely.

SO IT'S FUCKING OKAY FOR THEM TO DO WHATEVER THE HELL THEY WANT, BUT THE INSTANT I DO THE SAME THING, THEY YELL AT ME AND THREATEN TO TAKE AWAY MY SHIT. BULL FUCKING SHIT.

Fucking hypocrites. I thought my mom was going to fucking stab me for a minute.

Just a random thought that popped into my head. I'm afraid of heights that will hurt if I fall (anything from ~15 feet to ~100 feet, after that it's like 'I'm screwed if I fall, but it won't hurt) and being constrained (if I can't move my arms, I freak out).

What are your fears, Bulbagarden? Spiders, snakes, heights, speaking in front of a crowd? Clowns? Or more interesting, unusual ones?
