An Analysis of the pokemon available in BW and its relevance to a potential RSEmake

So several days ago, Mijzelffan and I started undergoing a process to check how many families of pokemon were available in each generation. As it would make sense for Game Freak to have left many of the pokemon available in RSE out of the post-E4 National Dex pokemon, I decided to check this. Here are the data:

A couple quick notes about the parameters:

- Because Johto is derptacular with respect to its pokedex, I only included pokemon that were added in GSC
- I also only included families of pokemon, just to normalize against families that have more pokemon in them than others.
- I excluded legendaries as all national de legendaries are unavailable in BW.

Kanto: 56 of 73 families available (77%)
Johto: 43 of 63 families available (68%)
Hoenn: 64 of 93 families available (69%)
Sinnoh: 42 of 66 families available (64%)
Sinnoh (Pt): 59 of 88 families available (67%)

Analysis: Ultimately, the data are inconclusive. With the exception of Kanto, the spread of percentages is incredibly close, and I cannot make any statement as to the viability of an RSE remake based on these data. Although the one thing the data seem to suggest is that a second remake of the first games is unlikely.

A big thanks to Mijzelffan for helping me write this up.

I dont see why they'd remake FR/LG it hasnt been that long since they were made and Kanto's still accessable in HG/SS. As for R/S remakes I still think we'll get them but not till after Gen 6 is out.

If Gen III is remade, we'll have all 5 regions available on the DS.

Aside from old Kanto, as we only have neo-Kanto. Hg/Ss did make a lot of the differences smaller between the two, but still we won't have the Pokemon Tower and Cinnabar Island on the ds.

I definently don't see RSEmakes on the DS. Nintendo is pushing everything toward 3DS (for better or worse.)

I'd make the argument that RSEmakes are redundant - the Gen III games were 'good enough' in terms of anything that could be improved in a remake (graphics, sound, etc.). And if Nintendo isn't going to remake games two gens old ad infinitum, wouldn't they naturally stop at the worst-selling Pokemon trilogy?

Would they stop at the best selling games the GBA ever had?

Plus, by now the RSE graphics really aren't "good enough" anymore. Nor is the sound. Gee Phoenicks, I wonder, what kind of video games do you play if you think the RSE graphics are still good enough nowadays. :P

We technically have Cinnibar Island...it's just a horrid wasteland that you can pretend to be stranded on,
