Seriously? Dragon Type?

I can't understand what provoked them to create a new type in the TCG. They haven't done that in the TCG or the GAME for that matter, since Generation II. This proves Pokemon is slowly straying away from what first made them so great. Another main reason for their decision was the poor quality of a lot of the new Generation V Pokemon, so now they're trying to throw in new ideas and concepts to satisfy seasoned Pokemon fans. I was so disgusted by most of these horribly thought-out and designed "creatures" that I'm going to buy the RSE remake and then I'm done with Pokemon at that point. The franchise is turning into garbage, but you can't blame them. These things come and go. Eventually, they'll run out of ideas, and stop making new Pokemon altogether, but keep making new games. and eventually the games will be so repetitive to people, they'll expect massive sales for a largely produced game, and it'll flop. I'll be so bad, Pokemon will be out of business. I estimate this is going to happen by 2025. Hey, now, I'm not criticizing my view of what is yet to come, I'm just stating what is very, very probable to happen in the future. Besides, Nintendo is slowly losing in the video game market, because XBOX 360 and Playstation 3 is capturing more of the American audience. If the Wii U doesn't do well, Nintendo will lose their grip on much of what they have left, and it will be the end of Nintendo after, maybe, 2 more generations of desperate attempts and trying to sell their product, and competing against Microsoft and Sony. Estimated fall of Nintendo: 2030.

End rage blog post.

I don't think Nintendo is losing the video game market because of this quote from the Wii page on Wikipedia
As of January 2012, the Wii leads the generation over the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in worldwide sales, and in December 2009 broke the record for best-selling console in a single month in the United States.
You say that Pokémon will end in 2025. That would make it 29 years old. Pokémon is the second most popular video game series with Mario being first. Mario is now in its 27th year so do you think that series will end in or close to 2014?

Maybe they wanted to add a fresh new twist to the TCG? You know, make it a bit different after all these years so people don't get tired of it, like they did with adding 3D graphics and full animations to the games?

    Just a possibility.

I beg to differ on that one. Sure, maybe it's sales skyrocketed in it's first years, but people want to sit down and play video games these days, as shown in this article.

Xbox 360 top selling videogame console in US - Times Of India --------That is a link.

And, Microsoft came out with Kinect, taking sales away from the Wii.

And again, this is only my very humble opinion. :]

I clicked on this because I thought it would be just about the Dragon Type TCG cards (which I'm surprised they're adding this late).

I remember when the Wii first came out, no shop had one in stock, months after being released. I've never heard of anything similar with Microsoft or Sony.

Okay, whoa. Dragon Type has been in the video games since Gen 1. They add it to the TCG and HOLY ZOMBIE JESUS POKEMON IS DEAD OMGGGGGG. Really? Nope.

@P N N K Yes, because the US totally means the entire world. It's not like Nintendo has markets in Japan, Europe, Oceania or any other regions with their own sales figures.

    Eeeauugh, people.

This change is going to screw up decks tons of people have made. If Pokemon was smart about 14~ years ago or whatever, they would've made this Dragon-type then. But nope, they have to be asses about it now. And besides, the Dragon-types beforehand all have counterpart types, so they always went with them. The need for a new type...I find (and probably others) completely unnecessary and kind of idiotic.

Pokemon just wanted to screw with people a ton this time...for all the TCG lover's. Collector's, Players, Officials...I'm just pissed off out of all of this. And other people are probably too.

And why in the living fuck do we really need to talk about the games here? Really? I think (personally) that the 360 is gaining more shit than Nintendo right now: CoD, Skyrim, that Kinect thing...the Wii U has to put something out.

    So yeah. Dragon-Type is boo.

I highly doubt that Nintendo's in trouble. Things were grim before the 3DS price drop, but after that, those things have been FLYING. Sales have been good, the software is picking up... And I can understand that you didn't like the Gen. V Pokemon designs, but that doesn't mean that EVERYBODY did. Your opinions aren't necessarily fact, is all I'm saying.

I've read the blog, yet I still can't understand how you connected the introduction of a Dragon-Type in the TCG to the downfall of Nintendo as a whole.

What's wrong?! I love it!! Why don't people like Dragon?

Pokemon will never die... It's since 1995. You will always have fans, and with every Gen comes their awesome Pokemon. Some not so great.. Lillipup, Ducklett. But I love all the other B&W Pokemon! They really met my expectations. Besides all Gens have their losers, such as Probopass.

Look at it like this. Digimon, I'm sorry, but is dead. But you still have those hard-core fans that stick with it. Honestly as long as the internet is around to unite fans, no gaming franchise will die.

The TCG never had enough types in it anyway, so I don't see the big deal. Quite a few types actually share types in the TCG, so if anything, this was long overdue and is probably showing the fact that they are waking up and introducing new things... yet you're saying that they're just gonna end up repeating the same things over and over. Yeah, not getting the logic there.

As for your, "end of the world nintendo" scenario, I'm not even gonna go there.

90 Million Wii's have been shipped around the world as of November 28, 2011.
42.44 Million were sold in the US as of September 30, 2011.

25.61 million DSi's have been shipped around the world as of September 30, 2011.
10.20 million were sold in the US as of September 30, 2011.

If Nintendo can't market to the US anymore, it will be crippled.

But they can. I doubt Americans will boycott Nintendo over the introduction of a new Type in the obscure Pokémon TCG.

Fans like me: Why the heck doesn't Nintendo change anything? Why do they keep repeating the same formualae?!

Other Fans: Why are Nintendo changing stuff?! They should stick to the same stale formula till people get bored and leave the franchise!!

    Poor nintendo..always in a catch 22 situation.

Never knew Dragon types weren't included in the TCG as well as the rest of types absence. This looks more like an overdue request rather than a screw you.

@CommandurrClowncrete The fans are much worse than that.
