I decided that whatever I ramble on about in my LJ, I'll post here as well. Besides, this bit of news is worth sharing!

Flying cars are going to be on the market by 2011?! They're not exactly sleek and streamline like the cars you see in the Jetsons; they actually look like mini airplanes with extendable wings. There are more details in this article: http://news.aol.com/article/flying-car/389720

I'm still on the fence whether I would want one. I've always dreamt of owning a flying car, but I had the image of one of those Jetson cruisers in mind. I guess we have to start somewhere, don't we? :) It's very exciting to me--like technology just took a big step forward. I'm really anticipating how this will further develop in the future.

The only thing I can't quite figure out is, in the article, it mentions it would take 30 seconds for the wings to extend... but if you were driving down the road, wouldn't the wings get in the way of other vehicles? I'm guessing there are going to be a few strings attached for whoever owns one of these flying cars; probably only certain areas where they will be able to take off and land. I highly doubt it's going to be as simple as they make it sound. :\

EDIT: There was an article about this in our newspaper today. Apparently one of these flying cars had several test runs here at our local airport. And, as I suspected, those flying cars are only allowed to take off and land at airports... *sigh*
