M15 comparison - Original/JP VS Cartoon Network airing

Rate this Entry
A few differences:
* Dub shows the movie title intro first then the Sacred Swordsmen training scenes. JP shows the Sacred Swordsmen first and then the movie intro.
* Different intro animations.

Scene completely cut out off the Cartoon Network airing.
* Pikachu the movie 15th intro, not present in the CN airing.

* The train scene, where Keldeo was spotted by the gang very first time, is 2 second short in the CN airing.
* After the gang escaped the first Kyurem-encounter (the one where Kyurem jumps off the train to save itself from the tunnel), the scene is 4 second short in the CN airing. To be more specific, Cilan/Pansage looking behind to see if Kyurem is following the train is missing from the English airing.

* In the Pokemon Center, Nurse Joy analyzes Keldeo's wounds with the help of her computer and notices the broken horn. That specific scene is cut off in the English airing. In the English dub, she simply starts telling the gang about the damage, no computer scene.

* When Ash asks Keldeo about the whole Kyurem incident, there is a long pause with a train scene in the Japanese version. Those 10 seconds are cut off in the dub.
* Another 11 second scene is cut off, right before the Kyurem flashback, where two trainers (Kanata and Misaki, I think; Lepardas VS Herdier) were shown battling at Pokemon Center's battle field.

* Right after the flashback, another 7 second is cut off.

* A 15 second scene, when the gang is walking towards the door in the underground railway/subway station (whatever it was) is cut off.

* Cryogonal floating towards Cilan and Stunfisk scene is 2 second short.
* During Resolute Keldeo VS Kyurem, a 1 second scene is cut off (yes, I bothered to check it... Twice)

* Unlike dub version's 1-minute credits, there was a 4:38 second long ending song.
** Some screenshots from the ending song:

* TR in the ending song.

You know, Cartoon Network. If this was the previous movie, I'd be more lenient on your cuts.

But no. This movie is 1 hour and 11 minutes long. Shortest Pokemon movie ever.

You people added an ass-load of commercials to make it an hour and a half long, so there's no reason why anything had to be cut out.

Hope the English DVD keeps those scenes intact.

And what was up with the opening credits on the airing over the scene at the very beginning with Keldeo training? CN just had to splotch that up. They weren't there in Pokemon.com's previews.

Thanks for making the comparisons, Adyniz. We appreciate it.

It's sickening how a network has purposefully edited out some of the scenes from the movie just to have a few commercials from its original programming air in its place. I understand that third-party advertisements bring revenue to the network, but there was no reason to cut out almost a minute of the footage if the entire film was already under the 90-minute timeslot.

There was mention of a different intro animation. Am I to assume that the "World of Pokemon" segment featuring most of the current Pokemon was from the dub only?

I'm more lenient on the edits done to the ending, since Cartoon Network always zipped through the credits of previous films anyway.

No, that was in the Japanese version, too. I think he was referring to the 15th anniversary thing.

By these scenes, I can't see too much loss to the dubbed version, anyway (or I just don't care). But, thanks for your hard work. ^^"

I'd like to see the liepard vs herdier, though, common battles receive better treatment in the movies.

Yeah, I am referring to the movie title intro, not the world of Pokemon intro.
By different, I meant the animation was different and seemed more cool in the Japanese version, with all the 15th anniversary shot etc.
