NiFUP 2: Blood Sucking Moths and Castrating Fish

Okay, I'm starting a new blog series called "Nature is a Fucked Up Place." The first one, which went unlabeled as such, was my previous blog on the parasite mafia birds.
Today I will talk about two critters. The first is the Calyptra, commonly known as the vampire moth. This is a moth that, while primarily feeding on fruit, has developed a taste for blood. When given the choice between sucking the blood of a human hand and eating fruit in a lab experiment, the vampire moth generally chose the blood.
The second critter is the pacu, which is a large fish that has human-like teeth. Though pacu bites are rare, there have been a couple of reports of them castrating men (who I guess felt the need to swim naked in the amazon).
