Ravings of a Royal Sharpedo

Those of you who know me know that I don't use things like Action Replay or Pokegen, and I don't even go so far as to abuse the RNG. What I do for breeding is look for parents with favorable IVs in what I'm looking for (and the Nature, of course) and use them to breed.

In that sense, I got exceedingly lucky with this breed. I was looking to get a new Hydreigon (my third one!) and decided to breed this time, rather than catch in the Victory Road. In the process, I got one promising-looking Deino. Through some highly meticulous, stat-calculator-aided Audino grinding (I saved before this, so I didn't worry about stray EVs), I was able to pinpoint this Deino's IVs; it took until Lv.27 to pinpoint Sp. Defense. When I saw all the numbers, I was AMAZED.

I kinda wish I could swap Attack and Sp. Atk, but aside from that, I'm very happy with this! The lowest IV here is 23!

For those of you who are curious, this is the strategy I have in mind for when it's ready for Wi-Fi.

This is meant to be a low-maintenence wallbreaker and general mixed attacker. Draco Meteor is very powerful in general, and Fire Blast covers it nicely, frying most Steel-types. Superpower demolishes Tyranitar and 2-hits Heatran and Blissey. It even 2-hits Chansey after Stealth Rock!

The last move is still undecided: I'll need to do some testing on PO and PS to see what I want most. Taunt can be a gigantic nuisance to walls, since it leaves them unable to heal and inflict status. As for other options, there are plenty. Roost allows Hydreigon to be very self-sufficient in the face of opposing walls; if I use that, I might switch to Life Orb to amp up my power, since Roost can cover the recoil. Substitute is interesting, since it blocks status and eases prediction. Earthquake gives me an option to destroy Heatran in one hit and not be walled by Jirachi. Dark Pulse makes things like Jellicent and Reuniclus much less annoying to deal with. Finally, there's Tailwind, which can really mess with offense teams when used properly.

The Speed EVs put Hydreigon at 285 Speed, letting it outrun positive base 80s, like Dragonite. Full investment in Sp. Attack give Draco Meteor and Fire Blast the maximum possible level of oomph. The rest are dumped in Attack to bolster Superpower (and possibly Earthquake).

Coincidentially, Hydreigon is the Pokemon I currently want to retheme myself around. The trouble is, I can't think of a good screen name related to this. Any ideas, Bulbagardeners? (It's become clear to me that "SharKing" will continue to bother me as long as I have that name, so I really need to change it.)
