No More Upcoming Mario Games

OK, so obviously NSMBU was released on Sunday (though I won't be getting it till later this year), so now we haven't got any upcoming Mario games to be released. So, the big question is:

What will next year's Mario game be?

It could be:

An SMB game (I highly doubt it, but maybe they could finally get round to SMB4 - you know, the first original Mario game since NSMB)
An NSMB game (I very highly doubt it - we had two this year, and we might not even have any more in the future)
A 3D Wii U game with lots of nods and references to SM64 (I really, really, really want that)
A new Galaxy game (I would also love that)
Or a completely new game
So, what do you think it will be? I think it will be a game with lots of nods and references to Super Mario 64 - maybe called Super Mario 64 squared (I would have typed in that little 2, but for some reason you can't do that on here)? Though I would also adore Super Mario Bros. 4.

I thought the Galaxy games contained lots of references. There was even a direct remake of a Mario 64 level in Galaxy 2.

I want a third Galaxy game myself.

    Super Mario 64² you mean?

They already remade super mario 64 for the ds. Though a sequel could be nice.

Super Mario Bros. 4 already happened; it's called Super Mario World.

I suspect another Mario Spin-Off title because the completely new Mario Wii U game may still be in early development and will be finished by 2014, and it was already explained that a Super Mario Galaxy 3 can't be done due to already using up all the ideas for Galaxy 2.

I know that World has the prefix of SMB4 in Japan, but it would still be called that internationally. Or, OK, I'll just go call it Super Mario Bros. V. :/

New Super Mario Bros. 5, with all music from NSMBWii

I hope there isn't any more NSMB games, because I found NSMB2 dissapointing, but I find NSMBU to look very nice.

At this point, I want another 3D mario game (even if there was 3DLand).

A game that isn't galaxy but still like galaxy.

I'm surprised they didn't have that right away even, you can't have a new Nintendo console without a "big" Mario title that shows what good the console can do!
Like, World, 64, Sunshine and Galaxy were done with the explicit purpose of being an example of a good game built around the console's new technology.

I guess they decided that NSMBU now counted as a main Mario game, despite being part of a subseries. But still, I don't think it screams "oh man look how great the games for this system look", it just says "it's NSMB improved!"... or even "the Wii U has Mario games too!"

Yeah, but Sunshine and Galaxy weren't released in their console's launch period (they were both released about a year after their console was), and they weren't really used to show off the new tech as much as World and SM64 - in the Game Cube and Wii's case, Luigi's Mansion and Wii Sports really showed it all off.

It didn't really add much to the series, and it just felt like you were playing NSMB Wii on the go.

But at least NSMBU actually improves on the series both aesthetically and gameplay-wise (I haven't played it much, but that much is clear), but I can't help but think that maybe producing both at the same time meant that they got less ideas and weren't really focusing on just one of them. But I'm pretty sure that the NSMB sub-series has come to an end now, as I can't see them producing a wholly new 2D Mario game without escaping NSMB.

But NSMB counted as part of the main series, as shown by SM All Stars Wii, as NSMB and NSMB Wii were included amongst all the other 2D Marios.

The next Mario Galaxy should be called Mario Universe.

New consoles should be accompanied by new ideas. I'm not interested in another galaxy game.

We're going to see a new Mario game that uses the game pad properly.
