So I have an idea for something like a tv show or a manga or whatever.

I haven't worked everything out yet, so this is just a rough draft.

It's set in an alternate 21st Century England, and the main characters go to a large school (the setting isn't really too important).

"Phantoms. Strange, supernatural creatures of unknown origin who feed on humans; To normal humans, they exist as mere shadows. Only a select few are able to see their true forms.
These people are espers, people born with telekinetic abilities. Espers are rare, and even then, only a few are able to wield the ability to fight Phantoms."

Lyra Archer (female protagonist) (wields a bow)
Bradley Kingston (male protagonist) (wields a longsword)
Orion Blackthorn (younger twin) (male deuteragonist) (dual wields submachine guns)

Violet Finn (wields a whipsword)
Rose Saffron (older sister) (dual wields war fans)
Lilly Saffron (younger sister) (dual wields large shuriken)
Lance Scarlett (wields a lance)

Meissa Blackthorn (older twin) (female deuteragonist) (villian, dies in Orion’s arms) (wields knives)
Alexander “Xander” Willow (villian, then undergoes a heel face turn) (dual wields two katana)
William Ivy (villian) (wields a large battleaxe)

It would get more emotionally and psychologically heavy as it gets near the end.

...Sounds a bit cliche, doesn't it? :p

I'd like to watch it. Though I will admit, it does seem to be a common premise. (Just replace "Phantoms" with "Dementors" and "Espers" with "Wizards" and you got Harry Potter.) But if there were interesting characters and a captivating plot, I'm sure it can be a really unique and interesting show.

I like the names, I see a lot of Pokemon influence in them. XD

My only question would be why do so many characters use swords if guns exist in your universe?

Random Pokemon fact: Psychic Types are called "Esper Types" in Japan.

Also the whole Esper concept seems kinda reminiscent of "Heroes".

...I don't really have a clue how espers can be chosen though, maybe something like they have to prove themselves?
Oh, and the more the overuse their powers, the more they become corrupt. Meaning they'll lose their humanity from overuse.

The weapons are defined by the character's personality.

Yes.
Their most basic ability is that each weapon can by summoned at will by simply snapping one's fingers.

Their powers are essentially created from the purified essence of Phantoms. It becomes less pure as it's used, until one day it becomes too impure in which it attempts to corrupt the user, causing him/her to 'awaken'.
At this stage, there are two options:
- Allow the phantom's essence to corrupt you. There's a high chance of death, and if you do survive, your humanity is lost in the process.
- Fight back mentally and physically. By conquering it, you'll become even more powerful, but your lifespan has been shortened, the length depends on how much corruption you endured during the awakening. Some (around 3%) of your humanity will have been lost.
