And drink some for the first time.
Before I get foreigners looking all fish-eyed at me, know that dr. pepper is not common in the Netherlands. A lot of standard supermarkets don't sell it.
As for why I wanted to drink it? Because I wanted to know how it tasted, and appearently a lot of people on these forums like it very much. (including but not limited to @Zhwoobatte. @CrackFox @vcrmaster @Octy @jda95 and @Ryuutakeshi sources)
So my mission to find some could start.
phase 1: Use the internet to figure out where I could buy it. Did it help? No. Did it show people who love dr. pepper? Yes. I thought to myself, this drink must be the best soda ever barring the obvious sprite.
phase 2: Check wether my university's cafeteria or automats sold it. I thought I saw it at first, but I was wrong.
phase 3: go to the supermarket and check if they had it there.Common sense took over, of course they haven't.
phase 4: Flash of insight when I just left my bus, the XL supermartket might have some. When compared to wallmart it's still ridiculously small, but bigger than the average supermarket here.
phase 5: Found it! A can of Dr. Pepper. The operation was a succes. Bought it and went outside.
So there I was, I opened it, and took a sip... I didn't really taste anything. I decided to take another, bigger chug. I tasted a hint of cherry (well sortof cherry). With stuff like Lemon Coke you taste a hint of lemon, but at least the rest you taste is cola. With this it was just a hint of cherry, and nothing else. It's like they had regular soda and then decided to add 50% water to it to make sure the taste isn't as strong. My first thought was "well this doesn't taste very good."
So I drank it 'till it was empty and went home dissappointed in the drink so many people labeled to be great. Definitely sticking to Sprite and Fanta as my favourite soda's.
