If you decided not to read this blog, you either don't care about anything 3DS related, or you don't understand the implications of the blog title.

Because it is impossible to get ambassador status on a non-Japanese red 3DS, because it didn't get released untill after the price drop: september 2011 while the pricedrop had already taken place on August 12th.

photographic evidence:

So how did I do it then? Did I system transfer one 3DS with ambassador status to another? It may be possible to do that (though I wouldn't know), but that's not what I did. Nope, I had a different way.

Did I copy the Ambassador files from another 3DS? No, that's impossible, since they're linked to one sole 3DS, and copying them to another won't make them work.

Then did I hack my 3DS somehow to obtain them illegally? Again nope, since then I wouldn't be blogging about it unless I wanted to get infracted, and I don't think it's possible (yet) anyhow.

No, here is what I did: Nintendo allows two ways for requesting ambassador status, having connected to the internet before August 12th, or sending them a copy of your receipt proving you bought your 3DS before August 12th. So I copied my 3DS receipt, and photoshopped everything on it that pointed to my 3DS not being bought after the 12th (actually I used GIMP, but whatever). To make it look as authentic as possible I actually used different receipts from the same store to make sure I got all the letters I needed in the right font. So the colour became blue, the product code also had to be adapted to that (a google search did the trick), the price became €250 rather than the €150 I paid for it, the date became something before August 12th, and I even had to recalculate the VAT.

And Nintendo totally bought it :). I got my ambassador games within three days. Without having to pay the extra €100 most ambassadors paid. But hey, if Nintendo wanted me to buy a 3DS before the price drop, they should just have released the red 3DS sooner ;P

Well it still is, but you get away with it, which is sweet.

Nintendo are going to discover your clever ploy, and come knocking down your door. Now you have to live in fear.

Well played good sir. Technically illegal, but you got away with it. So well played.

Bragging about it and showing pics... not so well played.

@Hide in Plain Sight Ironic to hear that from the person who himself has blogged multiple times over his underage drinking, police encounters, fights and other illegal stuff :P

Also, there really isn't much risk bragging about it anyway. Even if Nintendo were to read this and decided to care, there is no way they would be able to find anything helpful to my or my 3DS's identity here.

Nintendo has people monitering all major forums for their franchises. They probably have people checking all of their received receipts for signs of tampering as we speak. Nintendo does not tolorate things that may stop their handheld systems from printing money.
