Would it make sense to shave my motherboard?

Now that I've got you thinking I'm going to take a razor to my motherboard... actually, I might.

So I got a PCIe 16x video card yesterday, tried to put it in the PCIe 16x slot on my motherboard, and the RAM latch was blocking it my a few millimeters. I think the problem is my motherboard's (G31-M7 TE Ver. 6.5), but the video card has a heat distributor thing that the latch is getting too cozy with (XFX/ATI Radeon HD 4350). Does anyone know what I can do to get this to fit?

I was thinking to shave/sand/cut off some of the RAM latch, as one millimeter less and it would fit.

I added a few pictures, so that you can visualize my issue. The one pic looks like there are two, but one on the right has the problem circled.

Try to modify the ram latch. That's the only thing I can think of other then to break it off.
