Progress with novel publication

So it's been a while since I posted in my 'Getting Published' blog.
I'm getting older now and I'm having to genuinely look into a... real career. (Dreadful, I know!)
Don't worry though, I haven't given up on writing and I don't think I ever will. (Never say never, of course. Anything's possible.)
You may or may not be aware that my projected date to send off my new novel to publishers was the end of my summer holidays... That being about 2 weeks time. This is not going to happen.
Essentially, if I want to send off a novel, I have to write a synopsis and send the first 50 pages or so (this changes between different literary agencies but it's usually somewhere around there). This means I have to know what happens in the novel and have the first 50 pages looking pretty fucking awesome.
Currently I've written 58 pages and I've got the first chapter (~17 pages) looking pretty fucking awesome. I want to finish the first draft of the entire novel before I send it off though... I think this will help with the synopsis. Of course, I already know what's going to happen but I think it'll be better if I've finished it in advance to sending it off.
And when I say I've got the first chapter looking pretty fucking awesome... I mean it. Like, honestly, I don't know if I've ever been happier with something that I've written. I've been forcing myself to write a lot recently (it's actually pretty much my only leisure activity now) and I've found that I've been improving in leaps and bounds.
My new projected date to send the novel off by is the end of the Christmas holidays. This will be early-mid January.
Also, on a small but dramatic side note, I've decided that since I do not want to fizzle out and stop writing fan fiction (particularly not after such dramatic improvements) I'm going to work on the next chapter for Silph's Escape. Don't expect it too soon but it should be with you in the near-ish-ish future.
