I've been looking for something to write about for a while now, and I figured a countdown to Black and White (culminating in a review on Black or White, probably on Bulbanews) will give me plenty of material for the next week or so.

Originally, I had planned to revisit each game, but honestly, I never really came up with anything decent. It was all bland and uninspired. Shit, really. So I've decided to make this countdown all about Black and White in some way. This entry, as the title suggests, is my ten favorite Unova Pokemon.

Listing my favorite of the new monsters seemed like the obvious starting point. I, like I assume many, base my entire team on which Pokemon I'd be willing to own if they were, you know, real. So all of that comes down to design. If I think the Pokemon is groovy, and I take a liking to it, it gets consideration for my team. I don't consider stats or move pools or natures or any of that shit (though I do pay attention to abilities). Maybe that makes me a bad Pokemon player. At this point I don't care, it's how I've been doing it for almost 13 years now.

So that's it. Please feel free to inform me of how wrong I am. I'll defend myself, but I won't be offended.

Considering you openly dislike most of Hoenn's Pokemon for their apparent lack of creativity or knock-off designs, the fact that you have the Buffalo or the garbage bag on your list is quite an oddity.

I like Snivy even if its first stage reminds me too much of Treecko.

I don't dislike Hoenn Pokemon for lack of creativity. In fact, there are probably more Pokemon in that generation that I dig than in Gen IV. I just wasn't a fan of the general tropical theme.

I wanted to hate this list...but damn, you've got my favorite new family as your number #1, so carry on.

What does the tropical theme of the region have to do with the actual Pokemon?

Its not like the pokemon themselves were all designed on the tropical theme, as those same Pokemon could have existed in any of the other regions and there'd be absolutely no difference.

And to be honest, you picked out some of the BW Pokemon that feel like true animals. Some of the others are downright terrible this generation.

Man, 6 out of your top 10 are my favorites too. xD I'm glad to see I'm the not the only one who made the connection of Braviary to Stephen Colbert (I even plan on naming mine "Colbert")
