New Liberals aren't Liberals

Author's Note: This is a sort of continuation of ideas and opinions I've covered in previous entries. This time much more general, essentially.
You know who I’m talkin’ about. Those pansy-ass douchebags who are more concerned with making sure no one ever feels a little offended than they are sending Obama a loud, clear message of; “Stop being a pussy and tell the right to fuck off.”
They make me ashamed to call myself a Liberal. They want to control what can and cannot be joked about or can or cannot be said or depicted. Look, either everything is fair game, or nothing is… you tell me you hate “moral absolution”, then say the Cleveland Indians should change their logo because it’s “racist”? Please, do all us real Liberals a favor and cut out your voicebox you giant fucking contradiction (you see, that last sentence was simply an exaggerated expression of my anger, not a real demand or suggestion... get it? Like, I really meant; "go away from me and/or stop being an idiot"... but the other one sounds all harsh and shit, so it works better with my writing style and such. Of course, if you were someone who needed this clarification, you are part of the problem).
I can’t tell a gay joke. I can’t tell a wimmin-need-to-stay-in-the-kitchen joke. I can’t tell a black joke. Because regardless of my intent and the context of the joke (you know, the important part), it inherently makes me a homophobe or a sexist or a racist. Damn sure sounds like “moral absolution” to me.
We shouldn’t be pandering to the weak. We really, really shouldn’t. That isn’t how our species got here. In fact, it’s the exact opposite from how our species got here.
If I say (fairly obviously sarcastically), “Stupid faggots shouldn’t be able to adopt. Who wants to live in a home full of pink and lisping and fauxhawks and designer shoes and the TV constantly being tuned to WEtv?” it isn’t my fault if someone gets offended. It’s their fault.
Because a joke is a joke. Unless I was being super-serious about the whole gays-shouldn’t-adopt thing, there is absolutely no reason to get all offended. Getting offended only tells me you are unwilling to laugh at yourself. And if that is the case, you are a bit paranoid my ridiculous, over-the-top joke was the truth… and that is your problem.
How and why did we get to the point where whether or not something hurts someone’s feelings (though only people in minority groups, go ahead and have a go at straight white dudes, no one will come to their defense) takes precedence over starvation and poverty and fixing our shit health care and continuing to pay damn close attention to that whole oil spill thing that happened that people seem to already have forgotten about?
I mean, sticks-and-stones, man… sticks-and-stones… I even have moments within my own group of radical Liberal chums where I wonder if I’m the only one not all self-serious and unwilling to take jabs…
Because that’s life. Making light of our differences is what fuels humor.
What doesn’t fuel humor is telling people not to use stereotypes and then turning around and calling anyone who supports gun rights a backwards redneck or calling any Tea Party member a mindless automaton.
Hell, if any group is one of mindless automatons, it’s you neo-liberal, everybody-should-just-get-along-unless-they-disagree-with-me fucks…
You’re spouting contradictions at the same rate as the Tea Party.
You’re more worried about your gay or black or Native American or female buddies or yourself being offended by words than you are about the state of the damned country.
You’re judging people at the same rate as those you slam for judging minorities (but they aren’t in a minority group, so it’s okay to judge them)…
You’re making me more and more angry with the fact that we are both labeled “Liberals”.
Just start your own group… the “Compassion Party”, or some shit. I’ll be here in the real world, paying attention to shit that affects everyone, not just one dude who got sort of offended over something.
We’re all too damned worried about words. Words are next to meaningless, and are only given meaning by those who speak those words. Because intent and context is everything. Somewhere along the line we forgot that…
