Luxio2k8's Top Five Changes That Should Be Made For Super Mario Galaxy 2

I’m a HUGE Super Mario Bros. Fan. Have been one for a long time. The announcement of Super Mario Galaxy 2, at this year’s E3 brought a lot of joy for me because I had so much fun playing the original, but still I did have some problems with the original Galaxy that (hopefully) Nintendo will fix in the sequel when it comes out in 2010.

1. The Life System

Traditionally, when you earn extra lives and then save the game you keep them. Not in Super Mario Galaxy, where if say in a play through you have 25-28 Lives. Sorry, but they are all gone when you restart the game and back to the basic Four Lives. I really hope that Nintendo doesn’t do that again because it really bothered me when playing Galaxy.

2. The Water Levels

Anyone who has played Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’s Water Temple knows how hard and frustrating water levels can be. Galaxy’s Water Levels I found to be hard because I feel that the Wiimote didn’t understand what I wanted to do have the time. Maybe Super Mario Galaxy 2 should make the new Motion Plus a requirement to play. It could solve the Water Level issue.

3. Spring Mario

Let’s put it this way. I hate Spring Mario!!! Seriously, it must have been the Worst Mario Power-Up Ever! Any level that involved Spring Mario easily became 10x’s harder and think about: Raccoon Mario, Tanooki Mario, Cape Mario. These are some of the most iconic Mario Power-Ups, but have never made return appearances, but Spring Mario is allowed to come back. I really hope it doesn’t.

4. Fire Mario

In Super Mario Galaxy, Fire Mario made it’s long overdue debut in 3-D. Too bad that you can only be Fire Mario for what. . .maybe 30 seconds, if that. I know that 3-D Mario games are different from 2-D, but is it really wrong to allow Mario to be Fire Mario for the duration of the mission that he’s on? I don’t think so.

5. Better Two-Player Mode

Having a Second Player be a helper during the gameplay is okay, but what I would really like is having a Mario vs. Luigi mode similar to what New Super Mario Bros. for the DS.

Agh, the water levels on Ocarino of Time took forever. Also, Tanooki Mario FTW!

No mention of the 3-bar only health system?

    6. MAKE GALAXY 2D

Seriously, that's one of my greatest peeves with Mario, he's rarely in 2D anymore. It's a good thing that we have NSMB Wii, though it looks like they're being cheap with it (the music, for one).

Oh, and why are they making another Galaxy when we already have one?

It wasn’t an issue with me. The only time it was a big deal was in the Buoy Base Galaxy (again one of the water levels) where you have Torpedo Teds after you and it was hard to get to the coins at the bottom because of the Urchin that were there. Boss Battles were a breeze, especially with the Life Shroom.

The thing is that the game creators only got to do some of the ideas that were put in Galaxy and the original Galaxy had HUGE POPULARITY. Both critical and sale wise, a sequel was a given .
