Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening!

My class is playing a stock game so we're all investing in different companies in order to make a profit. Whoever makes the most money by the deadline wins. I want to be in the top 5 but I've never invested in stocks and as a result, I have no idea what I am doing. If I can't be in the top, I at least want to know where to invest.

Gold already peaked Kara.

The key is to get a diverse portfolio. Some blue chips (Apple, Microsoft, IBM etc.) For some upswing picks, look in non gold metals and oil.

So far I have shares in Bank of America, Jet Blue Airlines, General Motors, Intel Corp, Facebook, and Dreamworks Animation. I tried buying IBM but I have to wait til it opens on Monday.

The stock for Church & Dwight has been doing pretty phenomenally the last few years, so I don't think that would hurt. CHD. It's the company that owns Arm and Hammer, Nair, Trojan, OxiClean, and other household goods that people still need even in a recession.
