Gold is now Ethan? Well, sure, the opposite gender main character has always had a different name since they became an NPC for the first time in Ruby and Sapphire.

In Union Cave, there is a Hiker called Russell in GSC. In HGSS he is called Russel.... What the hell Nintendo? This is infuriating! Is nothing sacred to you? :complain:

Dash

Trozei

Mystery Dungeon

Ranger

Genius Sonority also took a second shot at a Gamecube RPG during that time period. But what have we got since then?

Battle Revolution. Simply a Stadium game rushed out for the release of the Wii. Genius Sonority have used the time since then to produce "100 Classic Book Collection".

A Mystery Dungeon sequel. Ok.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Sequel to a 2001 game.

A Ranger sequel. Often overlooked in the complaints against Nintendo's Q4 but it's still yet another sequel.

Pokémon Ranch. Putting the new Box on Wiiware was a natural move. Not letting you use it to transfer Pokémon between save files was a stupid move. Oh, and sequel.

My issues with Ranch aside, I did enjoy all those sequels. But there's no new takes on the franchise coming our way. And what are we currently looking forward to this year? Not one, but two "third versions". Platinum was predictable and I'll probably buy it but Chunsoft's attempts to cash in the cow are another story. The main series is on some shaky ground with justifying that strategy but there's absolutely no reason for the MD series to have so many versions of the same game.

I'll be reasonable. Ranger 2 and one version of MD2 can pass for recent DS coverage. But I want a worthy Wii title. Not a bare bones DS update to previous release, not a game where Pikachu is overshadowed by other Nintendo franchises. Just a full game for the home console. That's all I ask for.

When is a Wii not a Wii?

While writing this entry, I miswrote “brother” as “bother”. That is a pretty good summation of him. One of his recent annoying habits is insisting that everything he says is absolute, ignoring all evidence to the contrary. Case in point:

Me: *Playing Lego Star Wars on my Xbox 360*
Brother: Why are you playing that a day early?
Me: Wuh? I’ve had it since Christmas. I can play it when I want.
Brother: No you haven’t. That Wii is a birthday present.
Me: It’s an Xbox 360. And I’m not even getting a Wii for my birthday.
Brother: I do know what a Wii looks like. My friend has one.
Me: But it’s not a Wii. It’s an Xbox 360. It plays Xbox 360 games. Look - It says Xbox 360 on the disc cover.
Brother: *doesn’t actually look*
Me: This isn’t even what the Wii controller looks like.
Brother: Yes it is.
Me: It has Microsoft written on it.
Brother: They must have taken over Nintendo.
Me: ...

Also, I was playing as Boba Fett on Hutt’s ship. In the part where you fight him, both Fetts had a slap fight. It was awesome.

If anyone's wondering why I've not been on Bulbapedia much the past couple of weeks, it's because I've been watching Digimon episodes in my free time instead. I just watched the finale of Adventure 02 which wasn't as bad as I heard, though why anyone would get that far and expect any decent combat in that show eludes me. The highlight for me is the characters and dub dialogue.

In any case, it's good to take a wikibreak every now and again. I'll go back to uploading DP sprites and inserting MD2 locations at some point.
