As part of Bulbagarden staff I have seen a few staff drives. Sometimes Anime was hiring and sometimes it wasn't but for every section this question would make me smile if a certain thing wasn't said. That thing is:

"I would link to the forum in my signature."

I've always found this answer utterly baffling. Let's break it down a bit with an example.

I am applying for the Pokémon Anime section, which is where I spend most of my time on Bulba and if not, will likely be where I spend most of my time if I was modded there. I want to increase activity and so I will put the link in my signature. This is going to increase activity because those in the Anime section
will be the ones who see my sig the most often and so will now be aware that we have an Anime section.

Note the sarcasm there. You're not going to increase activity because everyone who sees your sig knows about the place already. It wastes your already limited space in your signature and it's also really redundant. We have a forum index that advertises all our forums and you know what, it has a description about them and shows all the subforums that belong to the place. Does linking to the forum in your signature have those? No!

Essentially, putting a link to the forum in your signature is the same as having no ideas for increasing activity and you're better off being honest and saying you have none.

/rant over.

So, what spawned this sudden post? Seems kinda OOC to hear you rant these days.

You should make a shipping blog however.

I'm okay with a link in the signature if it's to say you're a moderator of that section, but using that as an idea to create activity is just... XD

So...I'm assuming that this was a common answer in the most recent staff-drive? If so, it's safe to assume that members of the forums will see your blog post and realise they are part of the guilty party. They might feel a little embarrassed, a little disappointed that they messed up one of the questions. Some of the more sensitive types may even feel a little hurt.

I have a vague recollection of forum users who have posted blogs in which they openly criticised certain things that moderators have done and have subsequently been dug up for it/ripped to pieces in the comments section.

Just something worth thinking about, I think.

So what exactly are you guys looking for in that question? New thread ideas? That's what I did. I hope that qualifies.

Nope. It's an answer that has appeared in quite a few drives already, not necessarily a specific one.

No one likes failing anything. Think of it like a test. If you don't get a high grade, you look at what answers you got wrong and you improve for the next time.

If I was outright naming those users, then it would be completely out of order.

There is nothing in my blog saying that users are not free to disagree. Of course, there's a certain way to disagree with things (for example like with your comment, there is no F&B there so it is perfectly acceptable).

I can't answer that really in depth as it would be helping you out too much, but I'd say as general advice for all the answers to think over them.

We used to, until I became staff. That quote from my app should explain why it's not around anymore.
