The Deeper Meaning of Movie 16

Apparently, Movie 16 is all about Genesect's story, which is why discussing Mewtwo's role is fruitless and irrelevant. So I've decided to look at the movie from another perspective.

But the immediate obstacle in doing that is that the Red Genesect's characterization makes it so... enigmatic. This is a character of few words. For the bulk of the movie, you hear it saying this:

DESTROY ALL ENEMIES
Then after the climax where the insignificant Mewtwo teaches Genesect to love the world, it is so deeply affected that its catchphrase takes a complete turn:

EVERYONE'S MY FRIEND
I wonder what the deep undertone behind this transformation is. What does it teach us about our own world? I'm sure that the scriptwriter, Hideki Sonoda, put a lot of thought into this. After all, the movie is all about Genesect's story. Luckily, Mr. Sonoda was generous enough to shed light on his thought process. Thus, I think that we can translate Genesect's words to a less alien-like language:

DESTROY ALL ENEMIES -> ALL CRITICISM IS BOTHERSOME. SHUT UP.

EVERYONE'S MY FRIEND -> COMPLIMENTS ARE FINE. PRAISE ME.

This all makes sense now, doesn't it? Clearly, the movie teaches viewers about the value of appreciation, and it does that so cleverly.

No comment from Sonoda yet. He did reply to someone else.

I just make a quick view into Hideki Sonoda's tweet. He seems like the person that will reply to any fans that praise the Pokemon movies, but basically ignores anyone that don't even say any reviews related to the Pokemon movie.

So I guess Sonoda should had ignore the question we asked him.

We better need another strategy in order to "lure" him into answering the question.

May be the best way is first to start off saying "I'd watch the movie, it was great!". (say it even it is a lie!)
Then when he thanks the praise, we can then reveal we were actually some very old fans of Pokemon that also watched the original Mewtwo movies scriptwrited by Shudo Takeshi. Started to saying the Mewtwo of yours was different from Shudo's Mewtwo.
Then when he reply again regarding on this issue, we can then start to attack him with the real question we tried to ask him right in the beginning.

Yeah, a bit roundabout way, but I think this way should be more efficient then we just bump him immediately with a question when we are not even a journalist holding an interview with him.

@Crystal We should try doing that if you don't mind translating. I think he'll just ignore the second question, though.

If I understand his latest tweet, Sonoda is going to release a novel based on the movie; it will be released on August 7th. He says that it has lines that aren't in the movie. I significantly doubt that this will be worthwhile, and even if he reveals anything pertinent, this is such a cheap way to do it. He would probably tell us to look forward to the novel in that case, which he hasn't done yet.

I'm guessing that this is just another This is Animation book. What are those books like?

I don't know whether to laugh at this or be frightened, but dude, you're a bit obsessive over what sunyshore said appeared to be light-ribbing.

The person that Sonoda replied to certainly didn't think so. And what's obsessive about this? I am making fun of Sonoda regardless of what exactly he meant.

Aren't you trying to publicly call him out on Twitter over it?

I think @Crystal's suggestion may work. We could give him the praise he wants by saying something like "園田先生、昨日ポケモン映画を見に行きました! あの映画はとても面白かったです。" (Sonoda-sensei, I went to see the Pokemon movie yesterday! That movie was extremely interesting!), so we can get him to reply to us, then do everything else she suggested. We'll have to do it under a different Twitter account though, just in case.

And, I really don't see how it's "light-ribbing". Especially now, where at the very least it's clear that he doesn't care to answer the fan's questions and only wants praise.

@Tendou Soujirou: We're trying to get him to answer the damn question. I don't see the harm in that. If he attacks us or ignores us, that isn't our problem nor are we instigating it.

It makes me sick to do this, but okay.

If he replies, we could say something like this:

I really like the first movie, too, so I'm very curious about its connection to the latest movie. How was the new Mewtwo created? Is it aware of the old Mewtwo's existence?

@Silktree. I understand it doesn't feel right or comfortable to lie on purpose, just to get someone to answer the question we wanted to ask. But unfortunately, that is one strategy of human relationship interaction.

    Then for your question of:
I really like the first movie, too, so I'm very curious about its connection to the latest movie. How was the new Mewtwo created? Is it aware of the old Mewtwo's existence?
I'll make the translation as follow:
    Code:
Well, of course, if Sonoda dare to reply to us about the previous praising tweet.

No, and it doesn't matter since he isn't replying even though we were perfectly civil and even lied about liking the movie.

OK great, so Sonoda is not replying. Guess the praise is not moving him.

Then just to ask @Silktree, do you still wanted Sonoda to answer that question of yours about the new Mewtwo/Genesect movie?

@Crystal Do you mean the last question you translated? I'll tweet it just in case, but it's pretty obvious that he isn't going to answer.
