Now here is something completely creepy.
Someone somehow wrote a story on fanfiction.net about Ash having a childhood friend named Serena, who was friends with Ash and Gary as young kids. In the story Serena becomes Ash's childhood friend. Ash helps Serena in the story and picks her up by the hand after kid-Gary bullies her. He even describes her hair as brownish (in the anime its very dark blonde). They even meet Serena's mother in the story. Eventually Serena's family moves out
I have still yet to actually watch any XY episodes of the anime. The only reason I know what's going on is I read through the forums and I see people post pics/animated gifs on various tumblrs of certain scenes. I do like what I've seen of the group dynamics though.
On top of that, I really didn't watch much of Best Wishes at all. I think I only watched maybe 35(?) episodes of BW overall, mainly because the saga depressed me for rather obvious reasons. I did try to see the important
Seriously, what the hell? The reason why so many regular users on the forums are gone now is because they've all moved from forums to tumblr's. Now I have to lurk all these goddamn different tumblr blogs just to interact with them instead of everyone easily posting in one place like a forum.

Of course with Misty this actually made sense, as Ash WAS a rookie back in Kanto so you understood why they were doing it.
With May, Dawn and now Serena....Ash seems mature and competent, he is shown to be a skilled trainer, his Pokemon teams
Serebii: The first pokemon site I ever really visited. It has the biggest community of users, both good and bad, but I've visited the site since 2002/2003 and never had a problem. I enjoy posting there because it has the largest community of fans.
Bulbagarden: Very good community and Bulbapedia is informative. I've been here since 2002 as a lurker but didn't come up with my current username since 2005. A lot of the original community is gone now but I guess that is to be expected
