What Lovely Weather

Rate this Entry
I'll admit, I tended to be a paranoid little weather nerd as a kid. I hated thunderstorms and the possibilities of Tornadoes with a passion.

Over time, I grew more appreciative of nature's fury, to the point I actually welcomed the sight of the next big storm.

Through all this I was deeply connected with meteorology and tracking weather events; simply put I loved weather.

Well Mr. Munroe. You've done it yet again. You've exploited a childhood dream of mine and turned it into reality.

Your words couldn't be more true.
[I live near Washington, DC by the way]

I've only saved previous winter events because I'm crazy for snow like that, but in the summer, you wouldn't believe how many times a storm of cataclysmic proportions always skirts our area leaving a -perfect- pinhole sized gap in the clouds right around our quaint little suburb.

It's both a remarkable blessing and disappointment wrapped in one, but I suppose I should be grateful I can watch these things from afar than not feel the utter devastation that these storms leave in their wake. It's no trivial matter to get tossed about in these storms, and as much as it's fascinating to be so close, I don't think I would like to be too close (all the time).

I think I can manage something like that once. And be happy at that.

I'll give you the next tornado that rumbles through my neck of the woods.

lol, thanks but you can keep those ;3. I'm still absolutely freaked out by Tornadoes. At least we have La Plata as our whipping boy for that.

In fact I'm like at the northern fringe of the mini tornado alley here in Maryland. We don't get them often, but when they happen, it's always like directly south of our area.

Well, only two towns have been devastated by tornadoes since I moved here back in 2001, so I guess that's a good record or something.

It's all a government conspiracy, man. They've got, like, these giant aluminum foil domes over the city and it's to keep out bad weather and alien invaders. You hear what I'm saying, man?

well, here's a question, if you love storms and they don't come near you, then if you hate storms, do they always come to you?
