So I have come to a decision in my life.

Recently I have been giving myself and my future a lot of thought. I've tried college and haven't gotten anywhere. I don't really know what kind of vocation I could go for. I've found I have a passion for guns, and I have a passion for my country. I've come to a decision.

I'm going to enlist in the Army.

Doing this requires a big commitment. Biggest in my life. But I am willing to make it. Two of my friends have enlisted - one in the Navy, the other in the Marines. A third friend of mine was in the Army's active service for five years and was in Iraq. He's currently on Inactive Reserve.

This wasn't an easy to come to decision. It's going to require me to get my chubby ass in shape - entrance test is 15 pushups, 20 situps and 8 minute mile. While I can do the pushups easily, I can manage about ten situps, but I can get those higher. Where I'm gonna have trouble, though, is the eight minute mile. I'm gonna need to build up my stamina.

When I do enlist, though, I'll be in for the most intense ten weeks a human being can endure.

    And are those really the tests? They must have some pretty low standards.

    I think this is a wonderful decision for any one who is unsure what to do with their time but has the motivation still, and even better when that motivation is going towards something so brave. Good luck =)

    Actually, it's 13 pushups in 1 minute, 17 situps in 1 minute, and a mile in 8 1/2 minutes. It's the Marines that require absolute peak bodies.

    That still doesn't stop Basic Training from being absolutely grueling. If you're not in shape to start, you will be when you finish.
