If I didn't love this forum so much, I'd be seriously considering resigning from my mod position. After all, if I can't be trusted to objectively know whether or not I made a choice to find females attractive (I didn't, any more than I chose to like chocolate ice cream better than strawberry, but apparently my own word isn't good enough because I'm "too close" to the subject), I don't see how I could possibly have the mental capacity to moderate a forum like this one. I am just so glad that the heterosexuals of this forum decided to mansplain my personal feelings and choices to me; I never could have worked them out on my own!

But that aside, I'm staying. Just felt like getting that off my chest.

Edit: FURTHERMORE.

If you're not going to bother reading what I type, why are you replying to me?

It's why I edited with an example. Now expanding on that train of thought, once we realize that we are thirsty, that comes to our conscious mind, and we can actually choose not to drink (unless we were really that thirsty), however anyone not in the closet, especially those surrounded by people who aren't as accepting of their life 'choice' has their homosexuality in their conscious mind, yet they still choose to be gay. Now there are other people who choose to stay in the closet, yet like thirst which was caused by a biological response, their homosexual urges haven't disappeared by just 'choosing' to not be gay.

A comment on those Straight camps which I usually see played on TV, I don't actually know what goes on but I assume its closer to a conditioning response to 'suppress the urges' and not actually changing sexuality.

Now I can go on about how "Will" itself is just an illusion constructed by the mind to avoid the negative emotions that I assume would be associated with the 'realization' of not having a will (after all, why would people insist they have choice if it didn't matter to them?), kind of like the pain response we have to avoid things detrimental to our bodies, it is a response to avoid what is detrimental to the mind, you know if the 'will' didn't exist.

I've come to accept that whether or not people accept it is a choice, bigots won't care either way. All they have is one lost argument.

It's funny because while reading into social psych, all this prejudice of what is the "out" group (actually a technical term, not a pun on being gay) was all just a psychological response to fearing the unknown. After all, what is familiar you know is safe, the unknown might be dangerous. Even this social exclusion isn't much of a choice as it has biological and evolutionary bases to it.

Considering you didn't say this back when I argued with it, I call you're backpedaling.

Says the person who bitches about people claiming to know what goes on people's heads...

I nearly never make a conscious attempt to throw in "some" or "most" or "a few", so I slip a few times. I figure no one is petty enough to to make the omission of a few words a reason to invalidate my argument. I guess I was wrong. I'll turn to being all OCD with my arguments, then.

It is nice to know you are going after my sentence construction rather than my arguments.

What are you talking about? Im civilized!

Whats that? Its time for us to bash people who state their opinions because in our subconcious minds we think that just because they have a personality seperate from ours that they are critisizing us? Oh, joy! :D
