The Live Wire

The Live Wire is a fast-paced, action-filled blog filled with the collection of a now fairly known user's thoughts on events as they happen. The updates were intended to be short and sweet, though that was never really adhered to on a consistent basis. The content covered ranges wildly, from the latest and greatest to the criminally unknown, from opinions some may find disagreeable to irresistibility of varying qualifications. You may be entertained. You may be offended. You may be enlightened. You may even be disgusted. Is it a simple idea spiraled out of control? Perhaps. But it's all part of the ride. Prepare yourself.

  1. Trying to figure out how Final Fantasy IV sorts its encounter tables

    Fun fun fun. All for a guy's speedrun.

    So far, I know it uses 1 of 256 possible seeds, determined by address 7E0FFF which counts up once per frame at the title screen; it starts at 55 after a hard reset. Adjacent seeds only have minor differences from one another, increasing the slot number of various encounters in the line by one, wrapping back if it's already the rarest encounter. Your location and anything you do don't matter: if 1/64 is up next, it'll be up next no matter where ...

  2. System wants to know: speculation and stuffs

    What is with all these SSB4 talk on the blogs lately? I swear I am seeing an inordaine amount of wishlists and speculation, and the fact that I am seeing more of that here than Hoenn remake talk pretty much tells me...something. I don't know what. But why now? Why they sudden hype? SSB4 is loooooooooong off after all, all this stuff just sort of came out of nowhere.

  3. I will never understand people who can do 8-10 hour "speedruns"

    I can understand a fraction of that time, but not those kinds of marathons.

    I dunno, maybe some people like FF8, FF9, and FF10 a littlte too much..?
