Junko Takeuchi does a great Red. As much as I would have liked Rica Matsumoto, she's a superb alternative.

I'm getting used to how Red looks in The Origin, but I'm still more used to his Gen I look and his stern Gen III look. Not an awkward mix of both designs...

Takuya Eguchi... it's good acting, but it sounds way too old for Green. That aside, I like that Green's still taller than Red. Tall Pixiv Red can go to hell.

I love it how Red gives Green the same "I want to beat the shit out of you... but I can't..." look that Satoshi constantly gave to Shigeru in the Kanto saga of the old anime.

Wonder if he has cheerleaders?

As expected, Tomokazu Sugita is awesome. Moving on.

Katsuji Mori... I think Origin Orchid sounds rather boring compared to his other anime counterpart, but it's a good voice otherwise.

By the way, he says, WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF POCKET MONSTERS.

I'm sorry, Rikiya Koyama. But no. Hirotaka Suzuoki will always be the Sakaki voice to me. I will always imagine Sakaki having the same badass voice as Hajime Saitou from Rurouni Kenshin. Rest in peace, Hirotaka Suzuoki.

Last, but not least, Mewtwo! No, he doesn't have a voice, but I just wanted to mention him. I hope he's voiced by Masachiku Ichimura. If the regular anime is going to ignore his awesome voice and Mewtwo character, then Origin can use Ichimura-san's talents. His Melee rendition of Game Mewtwo is what I imagine the perfect Origin Mewtwo voice to be.

ALSO! Seems the special is split into four parts like an OVA.

Report 1: Red
Report 2: Karakara (Cubone)
Report 3: Sakaki (Giovanni)
Report 4: Lizardon (Charizard)

@FANG-TAN; I spoiled your images. But next time you have huuuuge images, can you put them under spoiler tags?

Yeah, my bad. Usually I spoiler tag my images, but for some reason I went full-on dumb and didn't do it here. :x

Watching a lot of Naruto makes me feel weird when I hear Red's voice. Everytime he completes a sentence, I expect him to drop a dattebayo somewhere LOL. But hey, even if the art looks weird, this image of Giovanni is the closest to the game.

Since I'm not much of a fan of Naruto but rather Diigmon, I keep imagining Origin Red using his dex to transform into a Lizardon. :P

I actually kinda hoped Goku's Japanese VA did Red. When I was a kid everyone used to say Ash reminded them of Goku from Dragonball Z. I'm sure I'm not the only one who remembers that.

Whenever I watch the original series, he still somewhat reminds of me of Son Goku, at least during his serious modes (and when he's hungry). But I'm not sure if Masako Nozawa would entirely fit Red or OS Satoshi, though she might. Masako usually voices a character who is extremely innocent in their everyday lives (but when battling or becoming serious, she makes them sound badass - Goku and Guilmon come to mind). It might work out, but I always struck Red and Satoshi as a bit more serious than characters such as Goku in their everyday lives. In Satoshi's case, he was on the snarky and arrogant side of things in his purest form, Kanto, which really separates him from Goku.

I wouldn't be surprised if Takeshi Shudo modeled Satoshi's personality around Goku either, especially since the Pokemon anime started in 1997...right after Dragonball GT ended in 1996.

Agreed: I really came to notice that he was similar to Goku in a lot of ways in the OS, and even a bit afterwards in AG when Tomioka took over at first, in terms of his character. Ash was a lot more selfless and caring for others before himself: a strong parallel between himself and Goku. Add to that their spiky black hair, and rowdy personalities. Another parallel can be drawn between Ash and Goku's huge appetites (Ash still maintains this trait to date).

It helps that the Gen I Sugimori art was inspired by Akira Toriyama's art style. Red and Satoshi looked so much like Goku back in the day.
