Oh boy, people are going to go crazy at the shipping implications.

Kanto (OS):

サトシ → オーキドはかせ
Satoshi → Dr. Orchid

尊敬
Respect

世界に有名なポケモン研究の第一人者。
The world's most leading authority on Pokemon research.

サトシ ↔ シゲル
Satoshi ↔ Shigeru

ライバル
Rival

サトシの幼なじみて最大のライバル。オーキドはかせの孫だ。
Satoshi's childhood friend and greatest rival. He is Dr. Orchid's grandson.

(Translator's note: Exactly the same as Red and Green's rivalry in the games, almost word-for-word!)

オーキドはかせ ↔ シゲル
Dr. Orchid ↔ Shigeru

家族
Family

サトシ ↔ カスミ
Satoshi ↔ Kasumi

(Their relationship is mutually described as ?)

トレーナー。 ケンカもするが、サトシを意識してる。
A trainer. Even though she argues with Satoshi, she cares about him.

(Translator's note: D'aw. I-...it's not like she likes you or anything, she's just doing it for the bike! Hnnng Guess what my anime OTP is)

サトシ ↔ タケシ
Satoshi ↔ Takeshi

親友
Close friend

世界一のブリーダーをめざしサトシと旅をする。
Aiming to be the world's best breeder, he travels with Satoshi.

(Translator's note: ...breeeeeeeeeeding)

サトシ ↔ ロケット団
Satoshi ↔ Rocket Gang

Enemies

---------------

XY:

セレナ → サトシ
Serena → Satoshi

スキ・・・?
Love...?

(Translator's Note: Well, they pretty much imply a crush here. I personally want an anime version of Calem or Sana to sweep her off her feet, because I ship those in the games, but whatever.)

サトシ → セレナ
Satoshi → Serena

なかま!
Friend!

(Translator's note: I admit, the way they execute this on the chart is pretty funny, but I feel sorry for Anime!Serena, despite not liking this shipping at all. xD)

シトロン → サトシ
Citron → Satoshi

ポケモン愛に感動! (I think this is what it says!)
Impressed by Pokemon love!

サトシ → シトロン
Satoshi → Citron

科学の力っ てすげえ!
Technology is incredible!

(Translator's note:

)

シトロン → ウリーカ
Citron → Eureka

兄弟
Sibling

ウリーカ → シトロン
Eureka → Citron

デデンネのお世話
Dedenne's caretaker.

プラターヌはかせ → サトシ
Dr. Platane → Satoshi

サポート
Support

ロケット団 → サトシ
Rocket Gang → Satoshi

ピカチュウゲットだニヤー!
Pikachu, getto da nyaa~!

(Translator's note: Pikachu, gotta catch em' meooow? I don't friggin' know what the English dub would do with this, get off my back!)

サトシ → ロケット団
Satoshi → Rocket Gang

お前たちのすきにはさせない!
I won't let you get away with it!

-------

That is mean. lmao Sorry, I'm not making fun of AmourShippers or anything (because I'm actually not, sorry if it comes across as such right now!), but the way they wrote "NAKAMA!" right after "love?" in the chart is just so hilarious. xD

I find it weird that there's no line between Serena and Eureka (since their relationship seems sister-like), as well as Satoshi and Eureka. They haven't interacted with each other at all, but at there should be something.

I think the furigana for the last kanji for the Satoshi/Citron line looks like "sendou."

It seems like, much like the older Kanto chart, unless they're blood-related family members, it mostly focuses on Satoshi's connections.

I think the furigana for the last kanji for the Satoshi/Citron line looks like "sendou."
It's actually starting to look like "kandou" to me. ポケモン愛に感動! Impressed by Satoshi's love for Pokemon? I need someone to verify this...

I think Citron did say "kandou" in the third episode, so that's probably it.

Seems like one person wrote it the way I did on the 2chan thread I'm on right now. The kanji for "ai" still looks off to me on the scan though. Everyone else on the thread were too busy making fun of the nakama part of the chart...

Just curious but did they make character charts like this for the AG and DP cast too? I would find it odd if after 15 years after the Kanto one they suddenly brought it back for XY.

Were there any of these made during the AG and DP era?

They probably did make character charts for AG and DP (anime studios tend to do this a lot with anime in general), but I recently got these off of a Tumblr provided on the PokeShipping thread here, so these are currently all I got.

Yeah, I've always wanted to see some of those early AG Japanese promotional materials. Like most people we were all relatively young when AG was airing for the first time (it was over 10 years ago after all) and most of us were still watching the dub at the time. I've love to take a look at any Japanese AG promotional material we never saw back then.
