My thoughts (and rant) of the XY anime teaser

Satoshi looks cool here. I appreciate that the first two episodes look like they're going to be more eventful than usual, but judging the first two episodes based on the teaser alone is ignorant. My hope for Satoshi is that he's a more mature version of his lovable character in the original series. Takeshi Shudo's Satoshi was the best Satoshi (see: Japanese version of Lord of the Unknown Tower's Entei battle and his dialogue).
Citron sounds like a younger version of Eren Jaeger from Shigeki no Kyojin (a.k.a. strangely translated as Attack on Titan by the creators). That's nice, considering they have the same seiyuu.
Eriika's so cute. But considering they're willing to bring back the reporters from Lord of the Unknown Tower, I'd say Mii would have made a more interesting and preferable child companion. Can't separate an imouto from her onii-chan, though, I suppose. Screw y'all that says she'll be an annoying little kid.
Serena's seems pretty composed, and I love how her seiyuu sounds. She's done mostly background roles in other anime, so this might be her big break.
It's clear she met Satoshi during her childhood. Zettai ano toki no... Yoshi! Kimieta! However, it's too early for me to be pointing fingers and calling her a childhood friend. It's possible that she simply met Satoshi briefly during her childhood, and he did something to inspire her.
I kind of wish that role would have been taken on by an anime version of Blue/Leaf. She's a lot more fitting, considering Satoshi is the anime version of Red. And it's been THREE FRIGGIN' GENERATIONS and they still haven't shown her in anime form. One of the first reasons she makes me weary. I just hope Blue/Leaf, at the very least, appears as a rival for Satoshi one day. It'd be funny if Serena's background ends up exactly the same as how I'm writing Blue/Leaf (Sayako) for my manga project.
The second reason that makes me weary. I hope the childhood encounter with Satoshi is simply admiration and nothing more. I admit it's mostly bias because I'm a big fan of SatoKasu, a.k.a. PokeShipping. I also love its game version, HanadaShipping (Red x Game Kasumi), but I'm more of a supporter of the former. It also saddens me as a Kasumi fan. I feel it disrespects the little existence she has left.
I was almost tearing up when I read Mayumi Iizuka's Twitter, where she was pouring out about the vocal cast change in The Origin special and telling fans not to forget her Kasumi. I remember BMGf used to be a safe haven from all the anti-Kasumi fans back in the day. Now it's the opposite - you can't be a Kasumi fan without being seen as a joke anymore. Kind of makes me sad. It's not cool, guys. It's not cool at all...
Enough of that... The character profile page states that she's a girl from Kalos (duh) that likes fashion and that she's met Satoshi in the past (Once? Or are they really childhood friends (osananajimi)? We'll see). In regards to the fashion, I hope she isn't shoved into a stereotypical girly role. That kind of role has grown tiresome. My favorite counterpart of a Player Character was Sapphire from Pokemon Special because she broke free from being a dress-up doll. But Anime Serena's cute, so I won't most likely won't *hate* her.
The Mega Bashaamo and Mega Gaburias plot? Meh. I would be more interested if it was something that was related to Xerneas or Yveltal. But I appreciate the apparent focus on action - a premiere hasn't looked this eventful since the first episodes of the OS, so that kind of makes me excited to watch.
I'll stick around for twenty or so episodes. If XY impresses me more than disappoints me, I'll stick around until the end. I have better anime to watch, after all.
