My pessimism on Kanto in HG/SS (or, I better stop before I derail threads)

Ok.

I'm sure my pessimism on Kanto being in HG/SS has done WONDERS for my credibility. I'm sure I'm seen as a troll, moron, idiot, etc. I don't exactly like that for voicing an opinion, as unpopular as it may be...

Well, I'm gonna put it all out there now.

In recent weeks, I've been looking at HG/SS as more a reimagining of Gold and Silver than a true remake. Largely due to NEP's taking Celebi's spotlight, and a new area dedicated solely to Arceus... not to mention Arceus' strong presence as well.

My train of thought is that HG/SS is now taking Johto, a previously underdeveloped region and taking it into the future. Kanto would interfere with this.

Additionally, Kanto wasn't very developed in G/S/C. I can't see them putting the effort into completely revamping Johto, and doing the same for Kanto. And the argument I always hear is "they are smaller than Sinnoh"... yes, they are by themselves, but together they are a tad larger (wider, specifically). Initially I thought technology would be a stop to this, well that I was wrong about. But there's the issue of effort and whether or not they see it worth to include.

This is why I eagerly anticipate official word of Kanto's presence.

So there you go. Flame me, let me have it, do your worst. I hope my pessimism is misplaced, I WANT to be wrong.

The thing is, they've only really advertised the NEP event and Arceus events and nothing else.

And its just that, they're events. Events most of us will never get to do. So basing the idea that Kanto won't be in it because of these events is kind of...

All we've seen so far is walking Pokemon and redesigned cities.

Oh and my blog was more along the lines of making fun of such trivial things as "Is Red Gyarados going to be in there" or "Are we going to get to battle Red?" and more recently "Do you think Red and Green are in there"

Celebi's not been focused on because Celebi's not coming back until Movie 13. Just like Mew was in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. The shrine's associated with time travel, just like Notchie.

And Kanto... um... you can see Route 22 coming out of the hub thing before Victory Road. It's going toward Viridian. You can't see Viridian itself, but it's quite clear that it's there, otherwise Midori Harada would never have drawn it in.

Plus. The focus IS on Johto. That's why Kanto isn't being showcased. Duh.

This is all true.

I suppose I do let pessimism get the better of my judgment despite the evidence present. A flaw of mine, if you will.

Like Outrage said, all we've seen so far is Gizamimi Pichu, Arcesus, and Pokemon walking behind you.

Normally I'd feel the same way as you, and say we need to see more game details, but 9/12 is but 2 months away, and when that date rolls around we'll know everything about and in the game with-in a 2 weeks to a month.

I don't think Kantou will get any pre-release focus AT ALL personally. I would like some official confirmation, but I don't think we're gonna see it, so I'm just hoping that it's in.

It's more than likely, but there's always that chance it will be excluded.

I respect your opinion but I don't really see anyone trolling or flaming you for it.

Wasn't Kanto confirmed for HGSS? I'm not sure, I thought it was but both sides of the argument say different things.
