I don't agree with the first one (I'm sure they'll at least be decent), but TR, they could have brought back badass TR with Wobbuffet.

I can tell right now that Serena was probably chosen due to her similarities to Dawn. The writers are probably trying to repeat what they did for DP since Iris wasn't that popular:

    - Serena has that "pretty" look to her similar to the way Dawn had. She has the same long hair and skirt.

    - Being a game protagonist I can't see her character being ignored so I expect her to do a bit more

    - She's going to have an almost all cute pokemon team except for one or two.

However unlike Dawn, Serena has the potential to have good chemistry among the main group. But overall I'm probably not going to follow the series too closely.

I can pretty much tell right now Serena will be treated as Dawn 2.0, while Clemont/Bonnie will have shared Max and Brock traits. Oh boy.
Now if they have Clemont as the charcter who happens to have pokemon seem to attack him constantly or have something like Brock getting his ear pulled or Poison jabbed by Crogunk as a running gag, if Bonney isnt a carbon copy of how Max was handled, and if Serena doesnt become a Dawn 2.0, i hope there will some chance that the writers start to follow the drafts for how they did some of the early episodes that were bearable to watch. I do hope the sereies will wrap up so it doent become like how scooby doo has become. I only watch the new and current episodes just to see how bad they are and to critique them and compare them to back in the good ole days
Couldn't agree more, my friend. I couldn't agree more. There's no damn emotion in the show anymore. Nothing...it's just like watching a trainwreck. You want to look away, but you can't.

It was a show that didn't treat its fans and target audience badly enough to actually insult their intelligence with some of the moves it made. Add to that, the English dub was actually decent before when 4Kids had it, and now under TPCi it's just an absolutely lifeless and empty shell of what it once was, just like the show. I can't even begin to understand how anyone thinks any aspect of the show besides battling, the animation, and to an extent some forms of character development, have improved at all. I think everything else has significantly deproved in quality.

I really don't know why I continued to follow the anime in hopes that despite all the absolutely terrible things that have happened to it over the last few years, I felt at least the plot would be resolved and the show would end on a decent note. I guess I was a fool for dreaming that would occur too. They'll just keep milking the cash cow dry at this point.

lol. The newer seasons of the anime are for all purposes completely dead to me now. People can call me nostalgic or whatever they want, I could care less. I really don't think that there's any point in watching onwards. The Original Pokemon Anime wasn't the best show by any means, but it had some actual depth and morals that it taught in the process. It was a show that didn't treat its fans and target audience badly enough to actually insult their intelligence with some of the moves it made. What does the current anime teach kids: that you should always accept defeat with a smile, and continuously abandon your friends and your Pokemon for new ones? Does it teach you to forget everything you learned before and reset yourself?

I like newer cartoons almost as much (if not even more) than their predecessors: I like Beware the Batman, Young Justice, and Xiaolin Chronicles. So, why do I dislike the newer seasons of the Pokemon Anime? I mean, clearly I'm blinded by nostalgia for refusing to accepting garbage. Why does it seem to disgust me with every fiber of my being what they've done to the childhood(s) of so many kids, teens, and adults, including myself? In all honesty, I really don't know why I continued to follow the anime in the hopes that despite all the absolutely terrible things that have happened to it over the last few years, I felt at least the plot would be resolved, and the show would end on a decent note. The characters would age, they would all work towards and achieve their goals, and their dreams would finally be reached that they always wanted to achieve.

I guess I was just a fool for dreaming that would occur too. They'll just keep milking the cash cow dry at this point. The show has lost any remote sense of what it once was. It was a kids' show, playful and innocent much like BW has been, but at the same time, it had characters with goals that sought to achieve them, like DP. A good show is NOT about only battling and having rivalries, NOR is it taking things so lightly there is no sight of any goal or purpose. The problem is both halves have been separated amongst the two most recent series, and the balance has been lost entirely.

As if the Pokemon Anime's decline itself wasn't hard enough to stomach, the English dub is not even close to the show it once was. I couldn't be more disgusted and appalled with what TPCi have done to it. I admit, I never thought 4Kids was the right company for the job, but I took off my hatred for edits and some minor mistakes, to focus on what really mattered. To compare the sheer effort and care 4Kids put into the dub, with the sheer lack of anything resembling genuine effort from TPCi, made me realize just what we have lost. I shouldn't even have to say why I feel the dub was better before, but I guess people will never get over what 4Kids did to some of their dubs like One Piece, to see who truly deserved to be dubbing the Pokemon Anime now. Even so, even defunct 4Kids deserved better than what the anime has become.

This is one of the few shows where I can truly say "The original is the best," and I'll leave it at that.

And most likely, Wobbuffet will barely use Counter/Mirror Coat. They'll catch cool Pokemon, but that won't matter if their trainers suck.

Serena is most likely going to have a similar personality to Dawn, who in turn had a similar personality to May. Just by looking at Serena's design she has the same girly look, the same skirt and same long hair. Sure she probably won't be a coordinator but other than that it'll be the same thing...another girl who listens to Ash and has all cute pokemon.

Funny thing is Bonnie looks even younger than Max. Bonnie looks like she's only 5-6 years old, while Max always seemed to be around 8 years old. I'm not sure what to think.

    #1: The Group
I actually don't mind another quartet, more character interactions to work with and variety. I instead would have gone with Shauna, Clemont and Bonnie for the sake of diversity. Shauna seems to be latin due to the similarities she bears to Dahlia, another Latin character in the Pokemon franchise. So it would have been awesome, but nah, we get no diversity. Shame since Iris and Cilan were the first non-Japanese traveling companions to travel with Ash, then again Unova is based on America and its more common in Black and White(hah!) people and I think France is mainly White, still Shauna would have been awesome. But nope, three blond, white kids. Still, I love Bonnie and Clemont a lot design wise.

    #2: Team Rocket

Agree, Wobbouffett sucks and outlived its usefulness and ability to be cared about years ago. Terrible, terrible Pokemon. It also sucks that TR are back to being idiots 24/7, instead of being badass spies, taking part in missions, and being threats and having competent failures and defeats, they're back to generic Pikachu stealing plot lines 24/7 in XY. Won't be long before we get the return of kindergarten-esque mechas and irritating, annoying as crap Boss fantasies. Because trying new things is bad and the writers should rely on the same conventions and formulaic writing they have for years apparently. -_-

This is one of the reasons I stopped watching the anime, because it refused to change anything and just kept doing the same things over and over again, especially with Ash because he is essentially so bland anymore. I'm fine with Clemont though will wait until I see what he's like, though I'm not that fond of Yvonne/Serena, mainly because I was hoping she WOULDN'T be Ash's companion (I wanted Alexa to stay), mainly because I feel like she'll just be a clone of Dawn, and I didn't like Dawn because I found her to be nothing to be a watered down clone of May with a team consisting almost entirely of cutesy Pokemon that exist only to sell plush dolls, as well as the fact that I honestly found her to be BORING in my opinion.

Agreed, Bonnie is probably just going to be extra weight on the team, which is why I disliked Max, and considering Max isn't going to be seen again, even with a Pokemon, because as we all know, Ash is still 10 and characters are forbidden from aging, Bonnie is just going to sit around and do nothing significant while her brother does all the work in the same way May did in AG.

Wobbuffet is fine with me, though he is a bit of a one-note character.

#1 Honestly, I thought AG's group was handled well, because with an even number (so everyone had someone to bounce off of), and didn't have to worry about giving development to Max's Pokemon team (since he had none.) Max didn't do a lot, but he had nice chemistry with everyone, learned from his experiences travelling, and I think he became a lot more humble.

I don't know why you think Yvonne/Serena will be generic fanservice. Every main character had a personality and went beyond fanservice. Heck, there's not that much fanservice in the show already. (Dawn had one, two panty shots? Compared to all the other times where the writers went out of the way to prevent stuff like that.) And Ash had a personality in BW: as usual, he was a kind, sweet kid who doesn't hesitate to help others.

And #2, I dislike Wobbuffet, too. He became more stagnant and boring than Brock in my eyes. But eh, he was popular enough to warrant an appearance, and he's there to appeal to the little boys and girls.

I believe you got it wrong way. On most pokemon sites speaking of fandom in general Original series and original trio seemed to be hold in higher regard than any other series and characters which came afterwards, which can be evidenced through being most consistently talked subject with demand for their return being incomparably higher than it was case for other traveling companions.

Just because you choose to ignore it doesn't make it any less true. May was popular, so were contests but you are really overestimating their popularity, because quite frankly they didn't left same impact on series and fandom like those which started everything did being iconic by this point.
