Try playing the earleir Fire Emblem games where you can't grind at all. The only enemies you fight are the ones in the chapters themselves and there are no random battles in between chapters to grind. And Perma-daeth still exists.

The alternative in FE is to restart whenever you lose a char.

Maybe it's just the stigma attached to permadeath, but I actually like it. Sure, insert the usual bullshit - it makes you try harder, etc., etc. - but I feel as if it makes the storyline more meaningful (assuming you don't reset after every death). Of course, I'm a sentimental fanfiction author, so yeah. lol

Respawn is for sissies. If you're good enough, you don't need it.

Trolling is really fun. You're always free to ignore trolls; ignoring/not responding to them essentially kills them. But if someone does fall for it, it's really fun. Especially when you say something so ridiculous.
