Wasnt Psychic super effective on Ghosts in gen 1? That would be quite usual for the Pokemon Tower. Although a lot of PP would be lost in the process and getting back to the Pokemon Center wouldnt be easy (or that one Channeler who heals you in the tower)

Can I get a amen! I really don't care for pokebank mostly because I started breeding this gen. But I can't stand cheaters and ranked battling like you said certainly proves this "filter" didn't work in Japan. I actually think they shut down pokebank for everyone to fix the "filter". But even if they do never release pokebank or make it so cheaters can't transfer hacked mons in the flood gates have still been opened. The sh*t show of hacked legendaries has been unleashed and that pisses me off.

If it makes you feel any better, I nearly took out a Japanese banked legendary team just now. What kept me from going all the way was the Delphox vs. Kyogre opening in which mine died before getting to move.

I don't think there's any real way to fix some of these ridiculous trade offers considering a "good trade" is somewhat of a subjective concept. At best the only thing they can do is deny people from requesting illegal Pokemon (i.e. no asking for Lv. 1 Zapdos when Zapdos can't exist at that level legitimately).

oh god if I had a dollar for every time I had one of those pansies rage quit on me in all the tournaments I could buy both X and Y. I also don't use legends and still kick ass. a lot of the competitors just sore losers.

Being someone strongly against the use of any legendary in competitive battling, I find that ridiculous. Even the lesser ones usually allowed are still designed to be overpowered. Who's idea was it to let them all in?

And rage quitting is just silly. I still think it should count as a loss whenever you disconnect, similar to other games.

True competitive battlers fight to the very end. They don't ragequit mid-battle if something doesn't go their way like those pansies you had to face.

You are right; they should toughen up and accept their losses.

Tbh I do trust nintendo & game freak more than other companies. Thus I expect plenty of free event dlc as well as some paid.

New Super Luigi is a prime example of a great dlc content. I would hope for something like a XY2 (kinda like BW2) to be dlc rather than stand alone.

@Tendou Soujirou Team Rocket outfit dlc....that would be worth paying for. They should throw in the ability to capture other trainers pokemon when you wear it ;p

@Tendou Soujirou; Okay, first of all, I was joking about no one caring about the anime. Anyway, I can possibly see them doing anime DLC outfits, but as far as stuff like simulating the 15th movie's plot or any signficant anime reference? There's nothing to gain from that.

I'm pretty sure what Serebii was referencing, as I've seen him bring that up, is Masuda doesn't think going the route of paid DLC is good unless what you're paying for is really worth it, like something to the scale of New Luigi U. Of course, you can argue some of the promotions they do now are just as costly as DLC being that they require you to spend gas money to drive to a specific location, or purchase/pre-order a movie ticket...

People still care about the anime?
In Japan they still do, there's been regular tie-ins for Best Wishes...in fact, right now they're giving away Ash's Pikachu, Iris' Axew, Cilan's Pansage, and Oak's Rotom at Pokemon Centers. I know people like to do "lolanime!", but the primary target audience that Gamefreak will be tailoring DLC to is young japanese kids who still enjoy it enough to keep it on the air, with everywhere else getting the fallout of that.

I suspect that, given we've got outfits, a large majority of DLC might focus on that. I could see them offering, say, Ash's clothes (XY or past series) and the iconic Team Rocket outfits as DLC events, and I think there'd be a fair amount of people who'd want that.

1, The "Cash in" Easy Boost Dlcs

    What is it:
These would be your standard 3.99/5.99 dlc content. Most likely something like small stadium, trainer island or such. They'd basically be legitimate cheating with either an area of Gentlemen&Ladies for cash&items or an area where trainers happen to just high lvl Blisseys or such.
    How I'd feel about them:
I dislike these sort of dlc's but I fully expect to see some sort of them. Fire Emblem had them in and lets face it they will sell. They are totally cheap though.
7, The "Hoenn area expansion" aka proper dlc content

    What is it:
A proper dlc expansion adventure for pokemon XY. Basically you finish the main adventure and if you have purchased the dlc much like Gold&Silver there is a dude on the docks in a town who will take you to an entire new region/area where you can do a whole load of new gyms or whatever. I simply listed the Hoenn region as a possible target but it could be done with any region, other things would be an advanced PWC or pokemon battle tower type dlc.
    How I'd feel about it:
Great as long as its not too close to initial launch to be a "cut out original game". Most pokemon main adventures end around 40-60 so there is always room for a new region and extra battle event end game stuff is great.
You don't do a good job of clarifying the difference between those two, where exactly do you draw the line between too much and too little content? What I think they'll do is something along the lines of what areas like the Sevii Island in FRLG or the Battle Zone in DPPt did, it'd be a new medium or medium-small set of areas, having one area would be too much (especially if they charge for it), and entirely new regions would be too large and deserve separate games anyway. Not sure where that falls on your list. Also, I think they can make the new areas even more worth it by adding National Dex Pokemon not catchable elsewhere in XY (no completely new Pokemon because that'd be too cheap, but previous gen Pokemon would be fine for this), a mini storyline, etc. The only real problem with my idea would be if the post game content in game reduces as a result, because then they're not actually adding anything to the game, they're locking it behind a paywall. Moving on

    2, The Shiny pokemon Dlc

    What is it:
This is to prey on the rich and omg shiny crowd. Releasing a small area or zone for 3.99 or such that basically has a shiny haxorus/whatever (could be like the nature preserve) or such in it. Other things could be rewarding players who buy this with a shiny charm or such.
    How I'd feel about them:
I'd hate this sort of dlc. This is a free to play mmo sort of dlc rather than reward through play its reward through pay and I hope this sort of dlc doesnt come to pokemon.
This would make shinies too worthless. I don't mind free shinies, but do it like they did in BW2 where you actually had to earn them. Buying your way into tons of shinies would be going too far.

    4, The extended wardrobe dlc

    what is it:
Extra choices of outfits/character styles in exchange for money. Pretty simple.
    How I'd feel about it:
Capcom loves this sort of dlc. It requires no effort and it basically taken out of the standard game on release in order to take more fan money. Much like the shiny dlc I hope this sort of thing stays away from the pokemon franchise.
This would be too cheap, I think.

5, The Anime/real event tie in dlc

    What is it:
Most likely an event pokemon downloadable to promote something else. Doubt these things would be charged for an are pretty common.
    How I'd feel about it:
Annoyed when Japan gets 6-7 of these per anime season none of which appear for any other region ;p . yer though they going to occur.

6, The 'seriously they should do this' Anime/real life event tie in dlc

    What is it:
See above dlc but done better. Example Instead of a mail box Keldeo when that film was released in cinemas they do a dlc content where you meet Keldeo in a special dlc area. You then do a series of challanges & battles alongside Keldeo (based on the film events) and finally face off and defeat Kyurem (film "baddie") after which Keldeo gets form change and joins your party full time. I'd fully expect a small charge for this sort of dlc.
    How I'd feel about it:
Doubt it would happen as its too costly but it really would be great to get a tie in dlc or such every time something happens in the anime.
People still care about the anime?

Anyway, I don't see a point in this, the anime isn't really worth referencing.

Okay. I should have guessed that from the context, but the use of "though" confused me.

Serebii spread a rumor that Masuda claimed to have been against DLC due to the money factor, but he didn't cite any source. All I care about is that the possibility of a justified use of DLC hasn't been ruled out. In fact:

Q - Are you planning on working on DLC?
A - Are you talking about additional content like Mystery Dungeon? That's in the top 3 of questions I was hoping I wouldn't get asked. We don't have anything we can announce today.
They're definitely planning something, but hopefully it's nothing like the Mystery Dungeon content.

Sorry I didnt mean cheap as in money. I ment cheap as in "a cheap way for they to get money from fans who in turn want a easy way to power lvl or get stuff". In fact I dislike these sort of dlc content purely because they are in reality a offical action replay code for extra stuff/exp.

They are in no way cheap in real cash terms as you say and purely a ripe off way to get cash off lazy fans.

Considering that there are eShop games that cost less than that and offer much more content, I wouldn't call it cheap. The Dream Radar costs $2.99, but at least it's based on a completely different engine than B2W2's.

This is what they should do instead of releasing a third version or anything similar. With the right strategy, it could pay off for them financially since even B2W2 only reached around 50% of their predecessors' sales.

The movies are awful story-wise, so if it were up to me the DLC side stories would be completely separate. I'm glad that Mewtwo's role in XY is unlikely to be related to the movie promotion and probably won't require DLC, either. But I do wish Mew could get a big role via DLC.

And god. Don't try to RNG on BW2 unless you're doing it for the events. The 5+ T0's aren't worth it. I still haven't calibrated my B2.
Some good advise. I did finally get my Staryu and most likely try a Rufflet later. I need to master those chatot pitchs.

BW2 is hard indeed. I am assuming the 5+ TO or worse will remain since XY will have swarm encounters which will require a larger number of multiple entries per seed. Sad really since not being able to RNG will turn any official pokemon competitions into a true haxfest.
