I don't think you should be surprised, as it is easier to remember the XY format for the fandom. Many shipping names use latter halves because most of the names start with 小 (little/young), 阿 (prefix used to indicate familiarity), or 大 (big/great). Fans do use the first character (assuming it isn't the any of the words mentioned above). Examples would be 智真 ZhìZhēn (小智[Ash] and 真司[Paul]), 智艾 ZhìÀi (小智[Ash] and 艾莉絲[Iris]), and 智丹 ZhìDān (小智[Ash] and 丹特[Dent's fan name])

Also, I did get some laughs for introducing those strange shippings.

Somehow I'm not surprised that the Chinese fandom does things similar to the Japanese fandom in merging the names together! It's interesting that the latter halves of the names are merged rather than the first halves like in Japanese, but noting that the first hanzi are likely rather common ones makes it clear why (at least in this case).

...I am intrigued but not at all surprised that there is a ship for SS Anne x truck.

The names of shipping in the Chinese fandom is quite similar to the ones used in the Japanese fandom. It's just a part of their name taken together (Fan names complicates it even more). For example, Hoennchampionshipping is 吾遙 WúYáo (大吾 [Steven] and 小遙 [May]), although ships like that aren't very common. The Chinese fandom aren't insane enough to pair every character, Pokemon and objects (e.g. Gary x hand, SS Anne x Vermilion City truck)

Ah well that makes sense, funny how interchangeable various terms have become. xD

Anyways I do agree that some shipping names are quite...interesting. I still truly wonder who came up with the name for my OTP, FranticShipping.

The keyword here being "popular" (neither sato-san nor I tend to ship the popular ships) and... honestly even among the popular ones there aren't many that are self-explanatory just from the name alone.

Knowing sato-san and what her ships are, I would not have even known how to explain why Beaconshipping is Volkner with Dawn instead of anyone else, or why Ginsuishoushipping is even- what in the- what even is that. (I know what it is, gin is silver and suishou is crystal, but... why.)

Haha, the word was ホモォ (homoh) which, from what I can tell, carries the same kind of self-deprecating humorous feel as something like "yaoiz" would. Take that with a grain of salt, I didn't do in-depth research into the term or anything, but that's just what seemed like the appropriate equivalent to me. XD

This truly interests me. I seriously wonder about how the language divide between the fandoms creates a different dynamic that differentiates the two.

Still I do truly wonder how it is like in the Japanese fandom community LOL. xD

If you mean just Pokemon doujinshi, I have about... 60 or 70? I haven't done an exact count yet, and I actually won an auction for a batch of 18 doujinshi the other day so that number is going to skyrocket when those come in. Total including other fandoms is... idk. Well over a hundred. XD

As for the shipping cost, the organizers paid that themselves. (I offered to reimburse the cost, but they ignored that. XD)

And if you really want to see my manga... I don't need to scan it, I already have the digital manuscript uploaded. (It even looks marginally better this way, because I f'ed up the screentones so they're all moire'd and ugly in the book.)

Here's the first page. It's probably the best page, for what it's worth, but if you really want to see the rest you can just change the page number in the URL.
Woooow, you're loaded down with doujins! *o* Currently I only have 47, with Hetalia having a huge chunk (19).

Where do you usually get doujins (like those lots and stuff)? I usually got mine from eBay, online stores, and from LJ sellers/middlemen.

And yes, screentones are fickle things.

We can continue this convo on AIM if you want. lol

Hah, I just noticed this entry.

I'm curious on how you obtain your doujins, especially since newer Pokemon ones don't pop up on eBay (but Y!J auctions). I used middle men that buy stuff from cons for you before, they are great.

Also, how many doujins do you have in total? o_0

Oh wow, I forgot about this blog entry. orz
And yes, "013" is from Nanzoya. :D

Copy book - A doujinshi published using the photocopier at a convenience store while no one is looking.
<3 I am in love with this concept.

D: But I think I need that everyone/Flint book in my life. I mean, the Proprietor. THE PROPRIETOR! *utterly in love with him* That book couldn't win any more than it has (and it was winsome by just having Volkner/Flint).

That's just sato-san's thing; all her doujinshi are named "Strawberry [something beginning with P]," to match the circle name StrawberryPopp.

These are just the shipping doujinshi I own, which account for about half of my collection. I'll post my non-shipping doujinshi in the coming days. :P
