Don't make me bring up the Rock of all purposes again.
HELIX BE PRAISED! OUR LORD AND SAVIOR!!
it seems fairly easy to cash out to the terms of a couple hundred million and move to some private island in the Caribbean where people probably haven't even heard of the Internet, let alone Bitcoin.
That's quite the stereotype you got there. Have you ever been to the Caribbean?
Economics scares me.
Twitch Plays Guitar Hero?
That's almost as good as my idea for Twitch plays Dance Dance Revolution.
If possible, Twitch plays Portal 2. Imagine the portal-related death toll...
What about Twitch plays Demon's Souls?
Mod Class of 2010 represent, man. User class of 2009, as well, now that I think about it. Damn, I feel old now.

Step 1: Several Gen I Pokemon become popular.
Step 2: A bunch of people drop out after Gen I.
Step 3: A bunch of new fans show up.
Step 4: A poll is cast.
Step 5: People only vote on Pokemon they know.
Step 6: Ergo, Gen I wins.
Step [Unknown]: Several popular Pokemon receive Mega Evolutions, likely increasing their popularity even more.
I will say, Mew kinda surprised me. I didn't realize it was that popular. o.o;
Everyone, calm down. It's just a poll based on opinions. Besides, we all know the best Pokemon is Togekiss.
Well yes, it is a contest for most popular.
And ignoring data is just asinine.

In addition, if they were Gen I / Gen II players as you claim, Gen II would have likely shown better results than it did. But that is strictly an educated guess on my part. Don't need data to back it up, it's pretty obvious that a big portion of the voters were nostalgia blinded gen 1 fans. Also this poll means shit, of course nostalgia is going to blind people and make them vote on their favourite pokemon, doesn't mean those pokemon are the greatest or even good for that matter, this was clearly a contest for the most popular pokemon.
This is yet another reason why I've zero hope for the Pokemon fandom.
It would be nice to know about the pool of voters. Like whether everyone who voted has played every generation of games (and if not, which they have played/haven't played) or whether there was just a large amount of older Pokemon fans deciding to vote on it bcos "nostalgia" and "childhood". Because if so, then that will have obviously skewed the results, as they won't have a clue about anything in the later games.
Still, not like I need a poll to tell me which are the overglorified Pokemon in the franchise. It's fairly obvious these days.
Simple math indicates that isn't the case. Because if they were overrated and boring, they wouldn't have reached the top of the list considering the sheer number of votes.
