While Naruto is not my (or anybody with grey matter's) cup of tea, I have to ask: Why? How? Is this actually true? Why didn't QC at Dattebayo pick up on this fiasco before it was released? And why are Naruto fans being punished by being locked out of the channel if timecop "one of the higher ups" was the one responsible?

From my understanding, this timecop person is both part of Dattebayo and GNAA. He simply used DB's distribution capabilities for GNAA's benefit. Then, I suppose Dattebayo, who I assume runs the fansub group, got angry because he wasn't told about this in advance. I guess he locked the channel in order to halt the distribution of the fake Naruto episode.

Either way, as my friend said... An adult who would himself "dattebayo" must be a complete and utter retard. It's quite ironic that this happens not long after I was told that. :-D

um, the dattebayo channel is set +i except during days of release anyway, and since it wasn't really a day of release, I'm hardly surprised they put +i back on.

I have little sympathy for anyone who fell for a torrent named not146.torrent for a file called [YHBT] rather than [DB]. I downloaded it anyway just to see what it was and was fairly amused.

All I know is good thing I haven't been watching the eppisodes of Naruto lately *deletes 146*, I wonder what would have happened if they did this with Tsubasa... (but I guess their partner wouldn't let them)

Dattebayo is the name of a fansub group, specializing in Naruto, not the name or s/n of a person.

Someone by the name of "timecop" is indeed part of Dattebayo (I think he's their encoder or something like that), and this little incident would seem to imply that the two timecops are one and the same.

I consider downloading episodes of copyrighted material a form of piracy and is wrong (this is why I never do animé screenshots myself), but using this method to trick users into downloading such questionable content is not morally right either. I have heard of G.N.A.A. before; their pratices and aims are definitely very questionable. They seem to exists only to spread hatred, sexism, racism, and to harass and fool people, and they have interrupted many operations, both on the internet and in real life. While I say that the downloaders of the «Naruto» episodes should not be doing what they have done in the first place, however, I don't think they should have received their just desserts this way. Some people are going to be very upset by this incident, while the preparators and some others take it as a joke to be laughed off (shame on you people).
