Does anyone here view this FoodNetwork programme? Like 4 years ago I recall dudes talking about it here. I think its pretty awesome especially with Chairman Kaga, the grotesque but pretty freakin' awesome host. But Iron Chef America I was like 'wtf only 1 asian guy also this show isn't right'. An entertaining kitchen-battle would be Emeril vs. Hiroyuki Sakai. Iron chef was one of the few things that made the mid-late 90's so great.

It's a pity the show cost as much as it did, or it might have lasted longer. It certainly never lost its popularity, even at the end.
You'd think they'd have established a line of kitchen utensils or something.

#1 money sink: Chairman Kaga's outrageous outfits. Or so they say.

That show's great. I think that the commentators make dumb comments about what the chefs are doing, but otherwise it's a great show.
By the way, Kaga scares the hell out of me.

I used to love that show. :( Wish they hadn't cancelled it.

From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Chef)
The stage setting for the show, "Kitchen Stadium" (キッチンスタジアム), the high-quality (and sometimes very expensive) ingredients used in the cooking battles, and Kaga's extravagant costumes required the show to have a budget far higher than that of most other cooking shows. Some statistics: 893 portions of foie gras, 54 sea breams, 827 Ise shrimp, 964 matsutake mushrooms, 4,593 eggs, 1,489 truffles, 4,651 grams of caviar, and 84 pieces of shark fin were used during the show, bringing the total grocery bill to ¥843,354,407 (or about $8,000,000). Chairman Kaga, who tried every dish, consumed a total of 2,389,995 calories.

Is it wrong that I think that, when they brought the show to the US, the host should have been John Leguizamo? If anyone could be the English-speaking equilivant of the Chairman, it would be him.

LOVE Iron Chef.My favorite chef is probably Sakai even though I find Kenichi's dishes to be more appetizing. (love spicy food...) And actually,I think the show is dubbed quite well.
Also,has anyone EVER seen an episode with Iron Chef Italian? Oo;

Iron Chef America sort of sucks... It just doesn't have the same mystique as the original.

Hark! Did my ears hear "Iron Chef"? That's one of my favorite shows. I actually prefer watching the Japanese version with Iron Chef Sakai, Morimoto, Michiba, Kenichi, Kobe and that cool chairman. ^^
As for the American version... It sucks! And the chairman they have is just a wannabe Kaga.
