View Full Version : Standard Moves
Should Standard Moves be listed as Learnt at Level 1 or as Standard Moves?
Its more logical to say Level 1, but most people say Standard Moves, so which should be used for the Bulbapedia?

Representation varies. The Smeargle article uses --. Level 0 or level 1 are both logical. List them separately from level-up moves sounds good as well.

There's no reason to list them separately from "level-up" moves

Interesting. I would eliminate them as Level 1 based on Red and Blue glitches such as Missingno. that could result in L. 0 Pokemon, and plus most sites, guides, and everything else just says -- as the level of learning. I'd stick with Standard Moves.
It's confusing, because some Pokemon's standard moves can only be taught via the Tinymushroom/Heart Scale move tutor - Charizard having Overheat as a standard move, for instance.
When you go to the Heart Scale Move Tutor in Ruby and Sapphire, does he just give you a list of moves or does it say what level they're learnt at?
If it says what level, then what does it say for Standard moves?
"Lv. --" explains away the problems created by "lv. 1" or "lv. 0", treating them as inherently owned by the Pokemon at the time of evolution or birth. Hence why Zard can Overheat.
