I've made some banners I might use in my sig. What do you think of them? Please give comments

This one is simple. Just my name and the Pokemon that come with it.
Both pictures are made by Mew Heart

This is number two. "Journey to Houen"
It's the title of a story I made up and a fanfic I have to write once.
It's about a yung girl and a woman who travel togheter to Houen. The woman because she's involed with an organization which battles Team Aqua and Magma. The girl because she searching for her father. Somehow, Both Team Aqua and Magma are after the girl.

The woman is really bassed on my Flare-Espeon character, and so her team is my team as well.

The white Dolfin/Seal thingy is called Nesstar. It's one of my fake Pokemon and it's Dragon/Light
All icons where made by Mew Heart.

I have however some things to say about it, I hope no one will run away scared after reading them ;-) :

1. have only pictures for Pokemon themes. If you want another theme, you should provide the pictures yourself
2. The pictures I'm using are Mew Heart icons, Mew Heart Pictures, Gameboy icons, and official artwork. If the picutures I use are made by artist, I'll credit them on the banner. If you want me to use other pictures, you should provide them yourself
3. Although I usually try to get your banner done a.s.a.p., there maybe be some circumstances I may not manage to do so. My study already clogged up much of my time last year, and the upcomming year's suposed to get even worser. And I hoipe you can understand a 3000-4000 words containing essay that's required to go further has a higher priority to be finished in the time given for it. ;-)
4. If the banner takes some time to be finished, do not complain about it. The chances I've forgotten you are very slim, especially if I already told you I'd do it. If it takes you to long, do not start to complain about it. In the end, you'll get your banner finished, and complaining only causes me to work slower on it :-p

How to request:

- Tell me what you want and what you want on it.
- Tell me what kind of backgound you want.

I'll tell you wether I'll do your request and mosrt of the times you can expect it to show up in about a day or two, most of the times

I really like that one myself, especially the background. It was intentionally used as a background for fake cards, and was made by Purity from Pokemon Zeo. She has such great art!
I think I'll make more banners with that kind of background, after I've finished my gymleaders series. :-)

You might want to save them as GIFs, to get rid of the "JPG effect". Also...it's easier to upload if you find a site to host them on, like the one posted in Webmasters Cafe, or the one in my thread.

I know the JPG effect makes them blurry, but the program I use (the scetsing part of Appleworks somehow gives a huge los of color if I change it to gif.

They where not made by me, but by Mew Heart. However I gave them names, types and attacks, so they feel a bit like mine as well.
But I agree, they are really cool.

In GD there's a thread about fake pokemon, I posted them there as well, including names, types, evolutions, and Pokedex entries.

I did some banner work as well. I'm almost finished with the Johto/Kantho set. Maybe I'll do Houen after that, or something totaly different. I'm not sure yet.

I usealy make my banners with Appelworks. It's a Macintosh program and it's pretty old, but there's no program I can work better with and I enjoy as much working with. Problem is I can't adjust the size of the pictures I make with it, there all A4, so I use pre-made empty images for the size. I made those in Microsoft Photo-editor on another computer and e-mailed them to my I-Mac.

Okay, these where the technical details. To make a banner I first choose the theme I want to make (or I do what's requested), then I search pictures fitting with it. I've loads od pictures on my computer. I decide (or it's decided in the request already) what size I want to use, open the template with that size. Then I choose the background. Sometimes I's just one color (usealy in a request), sometimes I use the backgrounds that are premade in Appleworks or adjust them (I did that with the gymleader ones), and sometimes I use a premade background (with the banners I'm making righ now).
Then I put pictures and tekst on it and save it as .jpg (since .gif really screws it up).

I started it because I wanted a Flareon and an Espeon in my sig and the pictures I used weren't small enough for the sig rules.

And because I like to use different ideas, different themes, I started to do banner requests as well.

Banner done. You could ask for two banners with a small theme as well and I'll put them togehter as one. That's what I did with the double banner in my own sig as well.

I can, but it may take somewhat longer to do. And minimizing it's a problem at all. I used to shrink and enlarge pictures from banners long before.

Hmm..I believe that making banners is a hard pocess, but can you minimize the pictures?

Minimizing isn't the problem, it's plain simple, only a matter of seconds, but I had to remove the background, that takes a lot of time.

Anyway it's finished. Hope you like the Pokemon I choose for it. :-)

But I advice you to remove your other banner. Right now, it's too big again. the maximun total height is 150 pixels, my banner is 100 pixels heigh and your :154: / :157: / :160: banner is larger then that one.

Important notice!

Yesterday, somehow, my hard disk got dameged. Altough after that, my computer seemed to work fine, I suddenly found out I couldn't save any files anymore. So I can't make any banners more as well
Now I either have to ask someone to look after it, or delete my whole HD. However this will take some time, and I have to take some important test as well in the next few weeks. Since these test are for my universitie studie, and I got points for them if I pass. Now I have to get a certain amounts of points, or I'll have to pay about $700 back what I would have gotten for free if I have enough points (that's te paying system in my country)

This means however, I have to spend time on studying, and won't have the time to fix my computer.
Therefore I'm sorry to say this, but until I've fixed everthing,

I'm taking no more banner requests

Something wrong with that? I can't say many of your banner are much more, only made with a more advance program. And if you've read some previous post, you'll see why I can't use my regular program and the regular material which on on my other computer. I can't draw, but my art teacher always encouraged me to use my creative skill in other way, by working with premade pictures. Maybe you didn't notice any of the composision in it, but I didn't just put pictures on a background.

Funny thing is, on another forum I talked with someothers about the definition of spam, when talking about pictures and other kinds of art. Our rule became that spam would be something done in less then 10 minitues in which the artist didn't put much work. Now, I spend at least 15 minutes on one banner, and put a lot of things in it most peole won't even notice. Now i can say one thing, that's more time then a lot of other posters put in regular posts. I post them to give other people a look, ask for commands and people giving advices, share experiences, to take things to a higher level, not to be critiziced. In the art forum, that's even forbidden. Why can't people here don't do the same??

Wait a minute, I've said two times I spend at least 15 minutes at each banner, probably even more, especially the houen group because i was experimenting with the background, finally deciding this one was the best. All you can do it put critism, all you can do is bring me down, all you can do is accusing me, of spamming, of lying, of being unoriginal of putting only "pictures on a background" Did you know many artists have become famous by only putting "pictures on a background"? Ever heard of pop-art?

:-) Because I have my pride, maybe sometimes a bit too much. And because I don't want my work to be critizied in that way. Look I know for myself I need to improve it, I'm just trying out with Paint and discoved it's really fun working with. I don't have any fancy program to work with and actually, I also feel like I don't need it. And that's way I don't want my work to be critized by someone who only likes things made with the most advanced programs, especially if that someone doesn't even listen to my agruments. Glad at least you think different about it.

sorry flarespeon it wasnt personally ment, i just thought it was lame to post all those plain sigs in here, when anyone could make them (no matter how long the composition takes)

and fancy programs has nothing to do with it. you could do a lot more with paint than putting images on a background. your composition skills will come a long when you strive for more eye-catching stuff for your sigs. it is very possible to do some nice shading by hand in paint.

Maybe I should state it even more clear that I'm only recently discovering Paint and am not very awere of how to use it's posibilities. About hand-shading, only my art-teacher knows how bad I suck at shading. But I do get some ideas....

Mild_Altaria's banner inspired me of making this one. Needs a bit of explanation. It's based on legendairies, essecially legendairy dragons. There are above the clouds, the normal dragons are beneath. Lyrics come from "neverending story"

Couple of banners I made a while ago, inspired be the trainers from Aquapolis and Skyridge. The legendairy birds combined with there orbs, and the ancient temple put with it as well. Somehow a strange thingie appeard in the background, later on I discovered it had something to do with a shade my computer tried to make of it

Wow, Flare-Espeon! Those are so good! I love the gym leader ones, except some of their sprites are blurry/pixelized, but otherwise they are perfect! Like the Bruno and Lt. Surge, those are unblurry/unpixelized! The type ones with the transparency feature are excellent!

FYI, j.e, I can't make banners like F-E's. Also, I don't really mind the ".jpg effect," I'm used to it by now. But I heard PSP can convert *.jpg to *.gif without such a significance in color loss! I don't think you can get it on Mac, though...:-( But I did hear that Macs have the best imaging programs.

Could you make me a banner? It would just be Haruka May on the left and Winona on the right, with a background like your 'Behind the Clouds' banner OR like the T-Aqua banner but instead of all blue shades blue shades with like a purple one? If you want to put any text on it, which you don't have to, you could put "Friends Forever" or "Graceful Sky Dancers". I love Winona, that would be great if you have time to make it!

Also, on the Houen E-4 and gym leaders, are you going to edit their banners so it is there English names? Also, my friend and I found out the old geezer E-4 guy is Flannery's grandfather ;-)

Glad you liked the transparency ones, the transparancy removes the jpg effect a bit. I might make some more of them when I got time. I might edit some of the gymleader ones as well, using enlish namesa, maybe a change in Pokemon, and I want to edit Wallace spite and banner, because his cloths have different colors on the official picture then on the sprite.

Hitchi, sorry for the delay, but temparatures wer soaring over 100 F (at least I think, I use to note temperature in Celsius) in my room yesterday, so I didn't feel to much like making a banner at that time. But anyway, I made up for it with three different versions. Pick the one you like! :-)

Yay! I finally finished! I actually finished the pencil drawing while I was on vacation, but I scan the various steps to my computer (pencil, ink, and final [colour]) just in case I make a mistake on one of the steps.

The wings are kinda uneven. :-( I tried to get them right, but it shows how untalented I am. If I have any spare time that's long enough, I may try to redo the wings again. I tried also to keep as many Umbreon attributes as possible, but the ears are different. But I did keep the Umbreon tail and the red eye colour. If you want me to, I can change the eyes. Also, I was going to make a yellow effect around the wings to make them look like they were glowing, and I can add that if you want. Other than my mistake with the wings, I found Celesteon quite fun to draw! Well, I guess that's it then. Here's the pic:

Sorry for not replying earlier, but there were two reasons for that. The first is that I hadn't time to go online earlier, for several reasons, I had to do something for my study and I went to the mall and bought some new Pokeballs. More about this in the thread in General. The second reason....just see below ;-)

It's funny you made the wings uneven, it's my mistake all the time as well. I forgot to mention it's eyes are clear-blue, my mistake, could you color them again please? About it's ears looking not totaly like Umbreon I don't care to much. I based the shape of most of my Eeveelutions on Umbreon, because they are all picture edits and Umbreon's the most plain evo of Eevee, it to base other evo's on, with not having a mermaid tail, electric spikes, or a fire colar and tail. I'd like to see it's wing glowing indeed, maybe you could give it a silver kind of glow instead of yellow? It fit's the nature of my Light-type better. If not, yellow's okay as well.

For all the work you've done for me and would do in the future, I have found and made something in advance. Something nice to decorate your room, I think

I don't mind at all! I changed the eyes. They do look better light blue. I was originally going to put some bits of silver in the wings, but then I found out I didn't have a silver pencil, though I thought I did. I started to make the yellow glowing, but it looked pretty bad, so I took it off. I also removed the "quick fix" effect, which is similar to the jpg effect. But inevitably, the jpg effect is still there....

What did I do for you beside draw Celesteon? You didn't have to do any of that for me! Thank you so much! Winona is crying...it makes me sad. But that is still a good pic. And as for the pic you made......I absolutely love it! You knew I really liked that saying, didn't ya? ;-) I will probably hang it on the door to my room, right next to my Eevee poster! I mostly just hang pics on my bulliten board wall and my door, that is the "designated area" my parents set where I can hang stuff, they are really picky about the walls and floors in my house. :rolleyes:

I like Celesteons eyes. They are a bit lighter then my original Celesteon character Angel, but she's a specila kind of Celesteon so I like to see the eyes different. And clear blue fits it even better. And I don't mind the .jpg, I only noticed it when I was printing the picture, because it printed little pixels on the white, caused by the jpg. And my first though was even: oh, the white on it is colored a bit as well. Besides, I'm facing the jpg effect everytime I make a banner as well, so I'm familiar with the problem.

What you did for me beside drawing Celesteon? You're a nice girl, you love Eevee, so do I (although I like Flareon and Espeon just a bit more ;-) ), you replied to my banner at a time I though no one would be interested anymore (since I barely got any reply) you're Winona obessed, she's just my favorite gymleader (means I'm getting close to obsesion as well), you answered to my questions in the R/S forum, essecially the ones no one else did, you draw Celesteon, which means more to me the you would imagine. I created it last year shortly before I had to take my exams, and she become sort of a mascot for me. Besides, I knew where to findthe picture of Winona and Altaria in a thunderstorm easely and the other Winona picture was stored on my hard drive for some time before. And for the other one, I was working on something for my room with those pics as well. And yes, I knew you liked the saying. Does “You’re obssed with Winona when..” say something to you? ;-)

You’re room reminds me of mines. Me parents don’t like me to hangs stuff on walls to much (besides, if you use tape to put it on, it falls down in two days, if you try to put nails in it, parts of the wall will come of as well.) But I’ve got three things hanging at my wall at last. One’s a huge piece of paper eight different Pokemon waponshields on it (I make a lot of things myself), a pokemon worldmap I’m curemtly re-doing (with Johto, Kantho, Orange islands, Houen en my own continents Gemo, Eastho, Tangora and Tresta, and the thing I made with all my Eeveelutions. Then I’ve got four small bulliten boards as well, which images are cuurentlly being remade, R/S updated, with as themes legendairy Pokemon and Dragon types. Then I have a wall covered with wood and there I have all my other Pokemon stuff, one with all Pokemon sorted by type, nice pictures and all other stuff. Oh and on my door there’s an old backside of a photo frame I put a colored paper on and putted Pokemon pictures and backgrounds on. Put all my Pokemon toys to it and somehow when you enter my room you got the feeling I like Pokemon. I wonder why? :-D

And about making a webpage for my banners, I’d really like to see that. I’m getting a little tired of always having to post this thread if I want to show my banners somewere. I’d really appiciate it.

Your room seems to have a lot more stuff than mine! I use tape, but for me it doesn't fall off for usually a couple weeks. I just have a medium sized bulliten board, and things hung around it (mostly above it) since I ran out of tacks! :sweatlol: It is mostly things I am obsessed with, but the majority of the things are Pokémon. :-D Recently at a garage sale, I bought a shelf that I am going to paint and put of clay figures on, so I'll have a shelf with my toys like you! I woud also be really interested to see your complete map of the Pokémon world...I think that would be really cool! The way you have sorted you bulliten boards by type like that is really nice! I wish I was that organized...my room is a total mess, and my Pokémon stuff is no exception. I alphabetized my rare and holo cards, but other than that, my other cards and other Pokémon stuff are just random. :lol:

I will probably start the webpage tomorrow. I really want to finish the chapter of my Pokémon fanfic, I probably shouldn't have even gone on BMGf today!

I'm terrible organized. If you look at my binder with cards: First they are sorted by color (so Fire Water), then by number and evoline. Meaning for Fire I start with Charmander, but Magby goes before Magmar, since it's its pre-evo, although his number comes later. Among the same spieces, take Jolteon, first come the cards with only the name itself, so just the Jolteon cards, if there's more then one in order of set (so first Jungle, followed by Skyridge), then you get the Dark versions, so Dark Jolteon, followed by the Light versions, Light Joteon, and at the and the gyms, with if more gymleaders having the same Pokemon, in order of appearance in the game (so first Brock's Vulpix, followed by Blaine's Vulpix) It looks really difficult from here, but if you're used to it, it really looks neat.

On my selfs, I got four scaffoldings in my rooms, but they contain other stuff as well, I'm really in love with wild animal plushies, as well as some high quality plush cats, everything sitting togheter as well, pOkemon separeted from real animals, sorted by size and type (I have all my hasbro beanies sitting togheter)

The tape only falls on on my walls, and everthing allowed to hang on the wall, is hanging on little nails. On my bullitian boards (I got four small sized next to each other, so I can overcross them), I really make some kinds of collages: I choose the pictures I want to use on it, cut them out so no white paper's left and put them together on a plain white background. Then I put some fitting lyric beneath it (I'm really a lyric freak) and hang them togheter on my bullitian boards.

And of course I want to do your banner project. But I'am already saying it might take me a while I'm really busy addepting my room to R/S style :lol: but I'll always finf some time.

Yay! I finally finished! Just like making banners, there are some things you do with webpages that people don't notice them, but they will if you don't do them. You can give the link to other people, put a link in your sig, or whatever.

I uploaded all the banners to the 250free account that me and EeveeForever share (but it is more of his), but the page itself is uploaded to my server.

I added the American Pokémon theme, since it's longer than the Japanese one (at least in the MIDI I have). I put on infinite loop, which means it will play over and over again until you leave the page. I can change it to however many times you want, if you want it to play a certain amount of times rather than over and over.

I realized I didn't include the Japanese Houen leaders and E-4, but I have them now. I thought they were exactly the same as the English ones oither than the name, but I was stupid enough not to notice the background and different Pokémon and composition...I'm sorry!

That's a good one! The shading on Whitney is really unique, kind of unusual but cool. You did a pretty nice job rhyming with that poem (unless it's a song ;-)) The only thing is, I don't understand the line "Me and I" but otherwise it's nice!

Well, I didn't do the shading myself, I used the picture of a VS TM card on it, and they have this paticulair shading (or it was just a bad scan, it took me hours to get it a bit good looking) but I made the background fit with it.

The text on it is another song, this banners part of a series I'm working on (considering the work I have to do right now, it will probaply be finished around this time next year ;-) ), containing Gymleaders, a Pokemon and fitting lyrics, the Winona banner I was using was part of it as well :-)

The lyrics come from ABBA again, and deal about someone who acts in one way, while thinking totally different at the same time, kind of a split identity, that's what 'me and I means. I thought the first part would fit nice with Castform and well Withney is in the anime joyfull and always laughing, but in the gamer she starts to cry after you defeted her. So I though the 'split identity part would fit with her as well.

Bassicly, Vitesseon looks like Umbreon, only his ears are smaller and shaped in a more rounder way, and his tail has the shape pof n arrow. Rabeon lools like Espeon without winkers and Eevee's tail

I remember you saying in your thread requesting Sugimori pics that you wanted pics of the Elite Four. Well, today my brother got out our old Pokémon board game, and there were these cards with Sugimori pics of the E-4! The cards had a not-full body shot along with one of their Pokémon. I'm working on the pics with the E-4 member and their Pokémon, and also head shots of just the trainer. However, Lorelei is the only one that I can get a head shot without part of the Pokémon blocking their head.

I'm not done with all of them yet, but here's Lorelei and Lapras.

Also, I meant to mention, the pics kinda have a dotty feel since that's how they're printed and not computer generated, so they don't have the best quality but I don't think you'll mind.

I always love pics of trainers with one of their Pokemon, so I don't mind the Pokemon being on it as well. I can fix up small cover parts by redrawing and recoloring myself, but I don't have any brilliant programs for it either. However, it's not nececairly needed, a lot of times I'm accutually putting trainers and Pokemon together in the way they are put together now.
And I don't care the pics are somewhat big. If I need them in smaller size, I can easaly shrink them myself. Most of the time (especially when printing) pictures look better when shrunken then hen they are enlarged, so I'm happy with it.

I think it's because the white text doesn't contrast with the pale parts of the backgound. Putting a darker transparant color over it might do the trick

First, I'm not sure if you have this picture of Rapidash, but it was one I'd never seen before:

Okay, now I have a banner request. First, just put this picture on the left the banner, maybe leaving about a 15 pixel space at the top, left, and bottom (that the background will fill of course), just so the picture is not right up against the edges, you know. ;-) If you could like soften the edges of the image, that would great, but if it's not an Appleworks feature, then don't worry about it. I'll attach the image for the background, too. You can repeat it as many times as necessary to fill the background. Then, about 15 pixels to the right of the image, you can make a text area with about 147 pixels in height and 200 pixels in width. If you can fade the area behind where the text would be to a very light grey, with the background very faint, that would be fine, but if you can't, you don't have to worry about it. Then, centered in the text area in black text with the font Skia (I think that's available on all macs) it should say:

Of course, don't include the _____ lines, they're just there to separate the text in this post. ;-) Although you probably knew that. XD If you need to make the text area bigger to fit the text, that's fine. I'm flexible. :-) Of course, there should be a 15 pixel border at the top, right, and bottom of the text area so it's not just on the egde. ;-) Overall, the banner size should be about 177 height x 450 width. (Unless you have to make the text area wider, which is fine.) I know that's a little big for banner limitations, but I'm not planning on using it here.

I'm not sure wether I can soften the edges, maybe Appleworks can, but I never tried. Making the textbackground faint however, should be no problem. I have the perfect tool for it :-)

Using the font Skia appeared to be a problem, it's not on all maacs, at least not on mine, but I don't have too many diferent fonts, but it is here on the forums, so I can simple cop and paste it from here. This should be the right font. What size do you want it? I think this would become too small to read

[EDIT] According to Appleworks the text that should be in Skia is in Times and on my laptop the text's just shown in the default mode. So if you really want to use Skia I suggest you type the text yourself, safe it as gif and make it transparent, so I can past it in the picture, or you choose a different font

I did the Rapidash picture, but unforetunately there was quite of bit of loss in colouration. :-(

I based it on a quize with got me "Lady Unicorn' out of it, and I liked it so much I wanted to do something with it. So I made the image, but I couldn't choose which background I wanted to use, so in the end, five different background themes appeared :-D
