Symbols?

I found it kind of confusing, and I couldn't find the answer, so I thought I'd ask here. What are the symbol things under people's user names? (Some look like Ash and Misty heads, and peace signs and stuff.) Are they good or bad? and what do they mean?

Those are...I forget the actual name, but they denote your belonging to certain clubs (Ash Club, Misty Club, etc., all of which can be found in the Clubs and Games section).

I think it shows what user groups your apart of, because I see alot of long time users with Icons.

Also, just for the heck of it, if you want to use smilies like this :-), you can type in the smile/pokemon/ect. you want by putting the name of the smiley in colons. The list of smilies and their codes is in the "posting rules" Box at the bottom of the screen when you go to post a reply. I'm just saying this because it took me a very long time to figure that out.
