ROME (Reuters) - Italian opera star Luciano Pavarotti, hailed by many as the greatest tenor of his generation, died in the early hours of Thursday, his manager Terri Robson said.

"Luciano Pavarotti died one hour ago," Robson said in a telephone text message to Reuters. He was 71.

OMG, I know! I'm absolutely distraught over his death. I loved Pavarotti. I'm a massive Pavarotti fan. He was being really positive and determined about recovering as well. He told people he was getting better.

Of all people to get pancreatic cancer it HAD to be him, didn't it? Typical! TYPICAL!

But, yeah, he was an awesome man and His music was always enjoyable. There's never going to be a man like him in Italy, or elsewhere in the world. He was only one.
