Wow this thread is so pointless. Considering we can view your gender in your profile, this threads point is to an ultimate low.

The only reason people call you "dude" is because they are idiots and never look at people's profile.

Calling a person 'Dude' shouldn't cause gender discrimination. But apparently you take offense to it

thanks to the people being nice about and not coming to this tread just to be a friggin idiot, plus people don't want to waste time checking out other people's profiles[duh!],so of course a lot of people wouldn't know my gender, and i just made this tread to point it out.i didn't expect a bunch of jerks to get in it just to talk crap.

I'm not surprised you went to the lengths you did.

I wouldn't hold it against anyone here for a slight err on account of your gender. Its really difficult to tell behind that computer screen. But I understand your case. When I started posting, people made the assumption I was female and I suddenly felt compelled to somehow let everyone know they were getting it wrong. I merely kept a notifier beside my "Location:" area of my avatar indicating I was male for about a year.

Of course, this thread should clear it up too...

If the person seems interesting and doesn't deserve a smack, I will so check out their profile.

just forget the whole thing.leave me alone,i don't care if i made this tread, just leave it.[moan]i getting so sick of theese kind of people who come to a tread just to piss someone off.besides,I'm kinda new,i joined this month,so i don't know what theese people think is interesting.if you don't give a heck about this tread and think it's stupid, back off,it's that simple!!so for once in some of your lives, just talk about what this tread is for,and not what's in your messed up minds.

Or do what most people do and just politely correct people when they make the gender mistake. It's worked for other members of the site (I can't think of any off the top of my head, but I do remember the issue arising in the past). No one's going to fault you for correcting people about your gender, unless you double post to do it. Or get pissy about someone, who has no idea, calling you by the wrong gender. People make mistakes. Best thing to do is, as I said, politely correct them, and then act like it never happened.

What was the point? ~_~ I mean, really. The only reason I ever see people (usually girls) reveal their gender online is if they're trying to get attention from the opposite sex. If you're that intent on peoples' knowing your gender, put it in your sig. A sig lasts forever. A post will fade away (or in this case, go to the Hall of Shame. :p).

And you can so edit here... or I could the other day. :p They may have fixed it.

I think people generally tend to reveal their gender for use of the proper pronoun. I don't generally enjoy people calling me "she," though the username makes it a common mistake.

I think people generally tend to reveal their gender for use of the proper pronoun. I don't generally enjoy people calling me "she," though the username makes it a common mistake.Lol. Well, considering the fact that the name Mokoko is decidedly female (you rarely see a male's name ending with "ko"), plus the fact that only girlfriends, bullies, or mothers would use the "-chan" honorific on a boy, I can see how that would happen. :p

I usually don't mind if someone calls me a dude or a guy. I'll correct 'em if it looks like they're going to keep doing it, but usually I ignore it. In the grand scheme of things, it makes little difference. :p It's not as though I'm into online dating, and even if I were, most of the people around here are WAY too young for me. Plus, this isn't a dating site either, so there you go. :3

Still, I do like the fact that Pokemon attracts people of both genders more readily than some other games. It's nice to see more of a balanced crowd to talk with. ;)

I suppose that's true, having straight men sending me "I love you" messages is one thing, now that I think of it that way, it's probably not so bad having your gender confused on a Pokemon site.

But for all anyone else knows, I could be a 46 year old heterosexual female pedophile. oO

The thing is, this person is offended by being called a dude. But dude can be used for females too. It's usually gender-neutral. So what's the problem?

And "guys" can include anyone of any gender. But some women/girls/whatever don't like being included in that. It's a personal preference people make. Sort of like liking a certain food. It's best to just leave them be with their preferences and mock them when they make too big a deal of it.

You have a point there, but it's a little silly to get worked up over such a little thing. But I guess that's what the Hall of Shame is for. :-p

Well, on the internet you have to just not take things personally or get offended. On a computer screen it can be hard to tell, unless you are use to it, weither a person is making fun of you or just teasing (meaning they like you but they want to point out something funny). Plus some people will only make fun of you more and worse if you try to argue back. So it is best to just take a breather and look at another topic before coming back to the one where someone teases you.

I guess for your original problem, a long time ago Bulbagarden use to display your gender under your icon, but they changed it for I guess privacy issues. It shouldn't really be a big deal though.
