Ash Bang'em

Ash is a player
He tries to get as many girls as possible
When all the girls find out he is like that he goes to another town
This is reason one for becoming a pokémon trainer, to go from to get all the girls without getting the consequences because he can just leave
Ash’s rival is Gary
Gary is also a player
Gary has a sport’s car and pokémon two chick magnets
Therefore Gary gets more girls then Ash, they are equal in pokémon but Gary has a car.
The result is that Gary is followed by a whole lot of Cheerleaders just for him to toy with.
To make up for the car Ash needs to have WAY more pokémon then Gary.
As a result of wanting to have more pokémon he becomes a trainer.
Did you notice? I already have two reasons for becoming a pokémon trainer.
Now, if you’re still reading. Imagine this: Ash is travelling from town to town on his own. That looks a bit weird doesn’t it? People might think he’s a pervert or something like that.
To cover this truth up Ash picks up Misty. A lady friend. He won’t have intercourse with her but just a friendly relationship. With this relationship he shows that he is a trustful person and that he’s to be trusted.
But why would Misty stay with such a person then? Well first of all Ash is a real ladies man, he can seduce girls with his eyes. Second, Misty is a slut. She left her city because her sisters are hotter then her and therefore she couldn’t get any good looking boys at home. If you notice this you see that this is very much alike Ash.
Psychological research has shown that people who are a lot like the same tend to argue a lot because they have the same social weaknesses. And you can also see this back in the relationship of Ash and Misty.
Now Ash arrives in Pewter town.
With just his pikachu he challenges Brock’s Onix. Now we all know this is a match up Pikachu just isn’t capable of bringing victory. However we all know, Brock had to take care of his family and therefore couldn’t get laid often. And couldn’t practice his lady seducing skills.
When Ash arrived they made a deal. Ash just couldn’t defeat him in a battle so Brock gave him the badge (he just pretended he lost). In return Brock could come with him and learn from the master (it’s obvious that Brock’s a lost cause, so it didn’t help much).
And that’s that for motivations of the main characters of this anime to become pokémon trainers and start travelling from city to city.
Updates on this theory will arive when people notify me, in a post reply, that they've read this wall of text.
