Ho-oh or Lugia?

I like Ho-oh better, because I think Ho-oh looks pretty, and has excellent Stats and Fire Moves combined. I also like its Sacred Ash. Which do you like better? Ho-oh or Lugia? Vote and Discuss!

Ho-oh has more mystery to it and is the most legendary of the legendary Pokémon. Lugia just doesn't match up to it and is treated like any other legendary.

I presume you are referring to the anime. Ever seen the episode For Ho-oh the Bells Toll? The fact that the writers have left Ho-oh for later shows how significant it is.

My vote goes to Lugia.

Lugia is such a mysterious Pokémon. Its been sought after by many people for its incredible power.

I thought Pokémon the Movie 2000 was very good, and I thought Lugia was a very good character. Lawrence III wanted it, Team Rocket's Professor Nanba tried to get it, and Cipher was able to catch a fabled Lugia and turn it into the ultamite Shadow Pokémon that can never be purified, XD001.

Lugia is a solitary creature because its power is so great. They have been sought after and driven men to go to insane lengths just to obtain power. Lugia is in a sense an essense of power, and people have tried to exploit it and use it for their own use. It is one of the only Pokémon that has had this kind of grappling and mesmorizing effect on people.

Lugia. Without question, there are tonnes more Lugia fans compared to Ho-oh fans, about 200x more Lugia merchandise, more Lugia clubs and waaaaaay more Lugia fan art.
Lugia isn't just a Legendary.. he's THE legendary and Ho-oh is only significant for the Anime. Lugia protects the world, Ho-oh just searches for the purest human, and sure it can revive other Pokemon but that's no big deal, Chansey can do the same!!
Lugia's song is, for me, something soothing.. there are so many mystreries surrounding Lugia too.
The reason for Lugia's popularity is mainly because he's pleasing to many different people such as bird, marine and aeroplane lovers as well as those who love the ocean/sky in general, he's also looked at as partly dragon, so dragon fans also find him appealing.
Lugia is the best looking Pokemon ever!!!! Silver and blue.. does it get any better? Look at his beaitful wings and shiny feathers! He's so perfectly made it's incredible, what is Ho-oh? Just a phoenix. Phoenix is boring, Lugia is a collection of some very interesting and powerful creatures.
Did you know Lugia's base stats add up to a larger number than any other Pokemon? But that's not too important ;)
Lugia = Guardian, without him the balance of nature may never have been restored.

Lugia's wisdom, power and intelligence are unmatched. For these reasons he has chosen to live in exile, in the depths of the ocean. He always tries to help anyone who asks him, and sometimes even if they don't. Lugia avoids confrontations, but if they happen, he tries to settle them without force. I like Lugia better. Ho-oh would be far far cooler if it didn't share types and qualities with an earlier legendary (Moltres), or if its unique attack were more...well...unique.
Lugia is quite unlike the other legendary avians, and its unique move is different and powerful.
In story terms I'll reserve judgement.

I prefer Ho-Oh. It is more colourful than plain old Lugia and Ho-oh also carries Sacred Ash.

Ho-Oh has a much more colorful and exotic design, but Lugia appeals to me more because of it's mysterious underwater lifestyle and strange, intruiging anatomy. I love trying to work out how Pokemon's anatomy works, and Lugia is a very interesting subject.
Not to mention, Psychic/Flying is one of my favourite type combos, and Fire/Flying is one of my least favourite due to the fact that it opens up so many weaknesses.

Lugia. Lugia is just so much better than Ho-oh in so many ways. Lugia is so powerful that he has to isolate himself from others. The fact that he does isolate himself shows how noble and peaceful he is. He basically only emerges to stop the world from being destroyed, then goes back under the water and lives alone again. I also like the idea that he is extremely powerful, yet will very rarely resolve conflicts with violence.
It's also amusing that there are still people out there that think he's water/flying.

You're right! I totally forgot about that. Except didn't most people believe it to be a myth than a real Pokémon, except for that scientist and Giovanni? Because I think Giovanni was the only one driven mad by Mew/Mewtwo. I think people knew that Lugia existed, but I could be wrong.

i love lugia not because its powerful but it has a beautiful song of all time. ho-oh is good looking for a phenoix but lugia is my favorite pokemon in the world! even if new pokemon come! Lugia SAVES the world with the help of Ash to collect three treasures when i watched the movie pokemon 2000 the power of one i was thrilled i never have seen such a good film. ho-oh does not save the world is not as beautiful as lugia and i think that lugia is the best pokemon their is. he has wings like an angle except that Lugia's is more better. scientist wanted a Lugia so they captured the baby lugia and Lugia got really mad and tried to reascue his baby. in the end he did! how intelligent is that? Lugia is one of the hardest pokemon to catch in the game and i do not know how to get to navel rock without these ticket things but i am hoping in the future that i suddenly get Lugia. Ho-oh is just a silly bird who thinks he is so great because he can make peolpe alive or something like that. so Lugia is my favourite pokemon AND ITS GOING TO STAY LIKE THAT!!!

Lugia because you can have the abilty to use Physic, flying, water, normal, ice, and steel moves. A very good pokemon for battle eccept for its stupid pressue affect....:bheart: it makes me love the pokemon and its shadow form is very neat...Ho-OH is very annoying anloy fire and flying moves and can be easily taken down...

Lugia really helped me all the way back in Pokemon Silver. (I made about 6 duplicates of it in that game =X ) But Ho-oh was such a hassle to get in Gold and Crystal... plus, Ho-oh is fire, when Lugia isn't. So it is weak against much moer than Lugia (Dragon/flying? haven't played Silver in the longest.)

Just so you know, Lugia is Psychic/Flying, but I believe that Dragon/Psychic or Water/Psychic would have been a much more appropriate combination.

Not only does he have the whole mysterious anatomy and physiology (you try to explain how exactly his body is built to withstand deep-sea pressures and fly), which has been happily puzzling me ever since I first saw his picture the month before his movie came out in Japan; but the mythology surrounding him is complex and fascinating.

Also, he can easily beat Houou in a fight.

I think the change came about when I started writing a fanfiction about Ho-Oh. Um... I voted Ho-oh, but I like them both a lot. Maybe I like Ho-oh a bit more, but its not too significant. Its mainly because I like Sacred Fire slightly more than Aeroblast, and you can get sacred ash from them.

I think that was one of the more subtlies to make the movie significant to the main series, because throughout that movie mew was shown that it can only transform into a pokemon after it has seen it. Meaning, Ho-oh must have been through there in the past.

Personally though I think it's really intresting the way they set up pokemon in an ancient region sort of way in the games. I interpert it this way:
